SOLVED Lost Multiple Windows from ScriptAI Editor.

I lost multiple windows from the ScriptAI Editor tool. I was able to get the vehicle select window back, but the Trajectories window is is a place where I can't move it.

Troubleshooting I have already tried:
~Restore view layouts to factory settings
~Remove BeamMP and delete it's folder
~Reinstall the whole game

Any suggestions?

 

Don't know exactly where/which file it would be in, but check out the json files in `C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\BeamNG.drive\latest\settings\` folder. There are several json files named `windowState.json`, located in folders with the name of whatever program window you are looking for. (for example there is one for the live vehicle editor in `settings/vehicleEditorLive/windowState.json'.

Take a look at the x/y position properties in those files, you probably could change them so the window is elsewhere. I have never done it personally, as I generally just rename the files with a ~ at the end and beamng regenerates the file with defaults, but if you try what I mentioned it may preserve any other settings you had made.

Again never done any of this, just my guess so try at your own risk (though pretty sure you can delete the entire settings folder and it will regenerate anyways). Also if you have an old version installed try using that settings folder and rename the current one to _settings or something.

I searched the windowState files and didn't get a return for "trajectory", so I tried deleting the settings folder. Then, the game wouldn't launch so I reinstalled it again and it worked!

I also went to the game properties in Steam and deleted "In-Game Overlay Data" before reinstalling this time so it was either deleting the settings folder or clearing that Steam setting that fixed it.

glad it worked! I think the settings folder you can't delete it entirely as there are a few files in the root of it that will stop it from loading. Also its a huge game so props for being patient enough to wait to redownload Lol ..

In the past when I delete the settings folder I rename it to `_settings` , and then when you start bng it will pop up something like: "xyz file is missing". Then I create a new folder `settings` and move over whatever file it needs from the `_settings` folder. If you have the issue again (hopefully not ) then may want to try this approach as funny thing is you probably reinstalled like 60 GB of data to replace 2 or 3 json files ) .

oh also i'm sure it probably doesn't matter to you at this point but take note of the files that are in the settings folder now that you just reloaded the game. then if something goes wrong you can just compare the list later and see what was added. also sorting by date can often reveal what was most recently created/modified. thats all pwommise
