I was looking at some older pics of beamng, and I really enjoyed the "look" of the cars, especially when damaged, when they didn't have reflections.
So my question is, will we be able to turn off reflections in beamng?

Yes, you can just edit the materials.

I wonder how much of a performance increase that makes, would be useful for us peeps with weaker systems.

Probably none at all. Most performance impact is from the environment (namely vegetation shadows) and from the physics.

To do so (if you do this, there is not going to be any FPS increase, they aren't real time reflections, but cubemaps/basically a texture of sky)

    1) Go to your BeamNG folder
    2) Locate Vehicles folder
    3) Find the folder of vehicle you want to modify (example: FullSize is Grand Marshal and Van is H-series) and open it
    4) Find Materials.cs, use notepad to open it (or any other text editing program of your choice)
    5) Find the line that starts with Cubemap (example in my case - cubemap = "BNG_Sky_02_cubemap";)
    6) Put // before it, so it looks like //cubemap..
    7) If there's any more cubemap lines, do the same to those.
    8) Save the .CS file (if you can't click CTRL+S, save it as ALL FILES instead of a notepad document, but only if such window pops up)
    9) ???
    10) Profit
