There is not much progress this week as I have to update my other mods because of the new game update. And sadly the new semester at my university is starting soon which means I will have even less time to work on this mod than now. There has been a bit of progress though. I have updated the prices of all the configuration so they match the new vanilla vehicle prices and make sense in career mode. I also talked with SergentFido about his irl Delta 88 so I can recreate it in game more accurately, and I learned that in 1980 some of these cars were equipped with a different variant of the LF9 engine called the 350D rather than 350DX. That version made more power but was a lot less reliable and would get destroyed by any contact with water. His personal car apparently had the 350D but with the injectors swapped from the 350DX, and also the transmission was swapped to the light duty TH200 rather than the standard TH350. So I have added the 350D intake that has a different model for the injectors and is lighter due to lack of water filter, and the 350D long block which makes more power but is less reliable. Added a 350D config that uses both, and the SergentFido config now uses the 350D long block but 350DX intake. I also converted the towing config to have the 350D engine as it has more torque so it's more practical for a towing config. Not that much progress overall but I have less time and it will probably continue like this for some months sadly.
Great to see the price adjustments, and it’s alright, everyone has a life (mostly) and it’s understandable if something happens that delays or slows the progress.
from what i recall the 350d might be the earlier version (the dx was i believe the versions with the rebuilt blocks after 1981 or so that wasnt garbage)
It would be kinda cool to have that car in the mod, as it's essentially just a rebadged Caprice so it would take little effort. But I have too little time to add a new car. I don't think we need any references at the moment, maybe we will contact you when we start updating the Caprice (the only thing we touched on it so far is the exhaust).
To be more precise : my car wasn't swapped with the TH200, it's all the Delta 88 diesel that got it in 1980 ! The previous generation from 1977 got the TH350 even with diesel engine, then it changed in 1980. It was a stupid idea. And yes, the 350D was the early engine born in 1978. The 1980 cars still have it before the 350DX was installed, not on all cars in the same time. I red somewhere that Cadillac got the 350DX before Oldsmobile, to be verified. And my car wasn't only swapped with later injectors, i think it had a complete cylinder head change for a later one, still on the 350D block. It also had an improved fuel pump with the inner gasket not falling in parts, cloging all the fuel lines which soon resulted in engine broken as well.
I didn't know that the 1980 Diesel used the TH200, that was a very dumb idea lol. I imagine it was to save weight, as it was almost 100kg heavier than the heaviest gasoline variant. I will fix the early Diesel configs to use this transmission then.
where are you at in NB? and yeah absolutely, it is essentially a caprice just a few small visual differences. the car is a long time project, i had it off the road for 6 years for health reasons and put a floor and a bunch of other things this winter and been daily driving it since may
