Hello all! I have been working on a Mt. Everest map for a bit now, using several lidar/height/other map sources to generate it. I am trying to get it to be somewhat 1:1 scale, but not 100% sure on some settings such as the meters per pixel setting. So far the settings I used are: square size: 20 maxHeight: 6000 map size: 20 square kilometers (the size of the basemap used for heightmap/texture) texture size: 4096x4096 (not sure about the specifics of doing this correctly) Anyways, I figure I will just post what I have so far. Would appreciate any advice/help on doing this correctly. I am almost positive that I have done some things wrong/inefficiently. For instance I end up changing the squaresize back to a small number when working on the map / adding objects, then resize it back to the (what I think is) the full scaled size. So enjoy, and don't get too excited it is in very preliminary stages and not much exists yet.
******Also, if people think I should upload it to the repo like this comment****** I was holding off untill it was more advanced. At the moment the texture is pretty basic, just a single texture stretched which is alright but not that great. At the moment trying to find a better solution w/ either multiple dae overlays / something else, as the texture is already at the size limit as far as I know.
I would always recommend uploading to the repo as it'll garner the most attention and helpfull feedback.
Good to know, I had thought that the repo was for more complete projects but I will upload it in the next few days
You should try making a version with a narrow mountain pass! I know its not realistic but the height and texture would really give the idea of an Himalayan Pass since there are no map like this
