Ibishu Claria 4door Hardtop About the modUnless you have been living under a rock for the past year or so you probably know about the amazing Ibishu Claria mod by @LJ74 . It truly is great in every single way (better than some of the official cars quality wise I would say), except for one small problem, that being it is only available as a wagon. As much as I love wagons, I (and I am sure many others) like to have a variety of bodystyles similar to what would have been offered in real life, and so I decided to make a 4DHT body for the Claria Since the base Claria is a hardtop wagon (a rather unusual bodystyle for a Japanese vehicle) a 4 door hardtop was the most straightforward bodystyle to convert to. Given the amount of things I have to change to create the new bodystyle (and the things I had noticed along the way I would personally have done a bit different), this will ultimately be a sort of 'expansion', including additional parts (exhausts, accessories, configs, bodykits ect..) as well as some model tweaks (such as the model width change, 5lug hubs ect..) Quirks And Features Hardtop Bodystyle (models/jbeam adjusted to fit accordingly of course) The main part of this mod is of course the 4door hardtop bodystyle. Making it was a fairly simple process really, just this crappy blueprint to get the basic rear window and upper quater panel shape, then adjusted by eye from there Width Correction The Claria has 'interesting' dimensions length is right on 4700mm, the same length as a 330 Cedric IRL and also the Japanese mandation for 5number 'compact' cars. Width however is about 1820mm, 120mm over the 1700mm limit, and also a good 130mm wider than the Cedric irl. Naturally me being super obsessive about these kind of things, I scaled all the exterior sheetmetal on the x axis, so now width is 1690mm as it should have been in the first place the floorpan and running gear is not affected however, sans for a slight narrowing of the track width otherwise everything is now scaled correctly and fits fine, aside from the dash which will need to be manually narrowed very slightly 5lug hubs As you probably know the Claria has 4lug hubs by default, however the Cedric/Gloria on which it is based, as well as all of its competitors like the Crown and Debonair utilise 5lug hubs irl, so I decided to make 5lug the default setting (as well as convert the Claria wheels to 5lug). For people who want to use 4lug hubs though they will still be available, and of course I will not overwrite the 4lug versions of the Claria wheels Bumper Mounted Driving/Fog lights Pretty simple but a must have imo, many Japanese cars of this period had dealer fitted or aftermarket foglights mounted in a similar fashion, so I decided to add them (had the idea after seeing the Autobello using them lol) Oh and because we have these as fogs now, the clear lights in the bumper will be converted to parking lights Extra Exhausts Wasn't really a fan of the default exhaust (especially the lack of a shakotan style muffler) so I will add thos, starting with this rear twin outler straight racing pipe And of course various other small addons/fixes and so on Progress - Modeling/Texturing - 85% - - Jbeam - 50% - - Details - 50% - - Configs - 0% - Q and A/FAQQ: When will it be released? A: When it is ready. Stay Tuned Q: What you make other bodystyles as well? A: I would like to yes, but I also want it to be released some time this century so for 1.0 likely only the 4DHT will be included Q: Which bodystyles will be included next? A: Next will likely be a 2door hardtop coupe, as well as a 4door sedan (with framed doors and different, less slopey roofline). Probably will also make a framed window wagon/van out of that, for lower spec wagon trims. I might also do a ute, as in what if the Crown Pickup was so successful Nissan copied it and procuded it well into the 80s Q: Will you do Police/Taxi/Commercial variants? A: Not with the initial release, hardtops were almost never used by such people, instead sedan (or van) bodystyles were, so I will create those after the sedan is completed. I may do an undercover/detective version of the 4DHT though, with one of those stick on round lighty bois Q: Will it be compatible with other Claria mods? A: Hard to say, where possible I will avoid overwriting things unless nessisary, though given the scope of things I have changed at this point chances are no unfortunately Q: Will it be compatible with default skins? A: That is the plan yes, I will make the second skin UV channel in such a way that adapting skins from the wagon should be no issue (aside from the differently shaped sheetmetal of course) Q: Will it be a standalone mod? A: No, you will need to have the Claria installed first in addition to this Q: Will it rust if I leave it outside too long? A: Q: Will it handle differently to the wagon? A: Perhaps a little, the sedan will be about 25kg lighter in the rear than the wagon so that may help prevent oversteer. Though in stock form it still will be very boaty and handle like cheese Street/race versions will have better tuning setups and be nicer to drive in general Credits @LJ74 Creating the magnificent Claria mod in the first place Me: model/texture/jbeam editing If I left anyone out pleas let me know Gallery
I can't believe it's LJ74's birthday today! OT: Loving it, The Claria looks so much better in my opinion as a sedan, I don't know if it would support that one Claria V8 engine mod but I really hope so.
My guess is that some people really like to see this Ibishus end up like this. Either patina or something like that.
Happy Birthday LJ and I just happen to have the perfect birthday present, a Claria HT slammed on 14x11s and with three whole tones of b r 0 w n hope you enjoy it
2 out of every 4 classic cars I see look like this where I live, I'm hoping there's some saltwater rust skin and a fog rust skin too for the Claria in the future.
The 'compact' car standard has an upper limit not only for the size of the body, but also for the size of the engine displacement. engines with a displacement greater than 2L would be under the normal car standard, so the Claria's 2.6L and 2.4L would exceed the compact car standard. So I think we need to set up a 2L engine. Also, the "lamp monitor" on the Claria is an odd feature; IRL, this area is equipped with "fender markers," which are blue lamps that glow in conjunction with the headlights to make it easier to see the width of the car and the length of the hood. In the era, there were only two warning lights for out-of-balls, no matter how good, the headlights and brake lights, and there were many cars that did not have them. I would be happy to see the front and rear lamp monitors eliminated and replaced with fender markers.
there wasn't enough free texture space to make the C20 logo, but with clever UV manipulation I was able to create one Oh and I already adjusted the torque curve too, the C20 should have about 83% of the power of the C24 and before I forget too the Claria with those rubber bumper extensions exceeds 4700mm, so none of the 2litre models will have them by default as for the fender markers, it already has them? though unlike those ones which are a single blue light the Claria has 3 different lights for low and high beam, as well as indicating though they are a bit hard to see so could just make the whole area one large light I always thought these fender markers were just indicators btw and lamp monitor you mean this thing right?
Wow! It is very nice! Yes, the Claria is already equipped with something similar to the fender markers, but I think the high beam/blinkers indicator are useless equipment since the gauges can confirm that the headlights and blinkers are on. And in Japan at that time, blue or green glowing fender markers were one of the hallmarks of a luxury car. By the way, "lamp monitor" is a term that encompasses those on the dashboard and those on the fenders. Frankly speaking, I don't think the lamp monitors for the tail lamps in the interior are necessary either.
Ah I see, yeah super easy fix lol now they activate with the headlights, and the larger surface area should make it easier to see may also make them dual circuit, so they can also be used as indocator markers in the daytime
it doesn't have rear fender markers?? not really sure what you mean sorry As far as the dash mounted 'lamp monitor' I probably won't touch it at all, tho I may make it empty by default (as I can' seem to find reference of something like it equipped irl), and you will be able to equip it if you like Also not mentioned in the OP but I was working on a cluster with a tachometer, to be used on higher end models like the Luxe and GT but I am not super happy with the results of this so will likely bin it and start over also it seems that the tacho cluster of the 330 cedric is very different, featuring much sportier and generally more appealing round gauges So I will probably just model something from scratch like this, tho that may take a bit of time (potentially after initial release) Also will likely use a different set of materials/textures, so should give me a bit of freedom to do some cool things there Also should probably change the gear indicator so that it is blanked out on manual cars, but displays a prndl on auto cars
