Hi, I've been noticing my game has been doing this ever since I upgraded from my GTX 970 to an RTX 3070Ti. Though I'm not sure if it's also been happening before but I just never noticed it since my 970 was always running at 100% speed lol.

Basically, every time I'm loaded into a map, the game unpaused runs how I'd expect. Hard drive and fans speed go up with the amount of cars and the complexity of the map. But what's weird is that when I pause the game and keep it in focus, the hard drive and fans ramp up to max speed over the course of 5 minutes. So I can be playing a session, pause and go to eat dinner, then come back with my entire room hotter and my hard drive and case/cooler fans going full tilt. It doesn't happen if I pause the game, then Alt-Tab to another window. I've done a couple reinstalls of the game and it didn't go away. The game is running on Windowed Borderless mode. This wouldn't be so much of an issue but I've noticed my spinning hard drive starting to faintly click every time BeamNG does the ramp up thing, and I'm worried this issue might be prematurely killing it (I've accidentally left the game running in the foreground for 8+ hours some times).

Can post more info if requested.

    EDIT Feb 17 2024:
It's been a long time since I've posted about this issue, because it has mostly stopped after an update was pushed a few weeks after I made my post. I think the issue was that the framerate was uncapped if you Alt+Tabbed, so it would just eat up your resources like crazy even if you weren't actively playing. Now, it seems to cap the game to 15 or 30 FPS when not in focus, and that has dropped my total utilization while in another window by about half. Now, it does use 50% of my GPU and take up 7GBs of memory, but that is far less than before. Hopefully that helps, making this edit so I don't necro the thread.

I noticed the same yesterday, funny you mention it. I left it paused while I ran to the kitchen, when I came back all fans where on full. I didnt check any usage, but it was running fast and warm like it was under load. I think this is a new thing, I do not recall it happening before, but may have just missed it.

Thank you for confirming I'm not going crazy :D I'll try seeing if I can replicate the issue on 0.25 or lower, I think I have an old install of BeamNG somewhere.

Your GPU usage may just be focused on the one application, also maybe because your pc setting ate at max for the wrong things.

I believe this is an issue that's happening due to having an uncapped frame rate as you probably get really high fps soon as u paused and went to the kitchen the game was probably running at 1100 fps (or something) hence the usage and fan speed spike
