I mean, the D-Series could be electrified, the AMC Pacer was electrified in 1978 --- Post updated --- Yeah, I’m one of those people who thinks it could be cool to have a modern pickup, I can also see it from others’ perspectives.
True Every car got some amount of pushback, even though they were cool, unique cars that had 1000s of hours put into them, designing them, testing them, changing driving dynamics, etc. The reason people like the new offroaders is because they are "unique, and different" Guess what all cars have in them: They are cool, unique cars that had 1000s of hours put into them, designing them, testing them, changing driving dynamics, design choices, etc. I do not understand why people argue about "the d series gets too much attention" The reason? THE D SERIES STARTED THE GAME, WITHOUT IT WE WOULD NOT BE HERE Enjoy the cars we have, because that's all we have right now Sorry for the rant, some greedy people on here just annoy me "I WANT A MODERN PICKUP" The developers aren't going to cater just to YOUR needs, they will cater to what the community wants
The D-Series is an older generation Pick-Up Truck, with the absolute basic ESC technology: On or Off. And that's it. Same for the H-Series and the Roamer too. Modern vehicles on the other hand have various different drive modes, not to mention adjustable parts like suspensions, transmissions, differentials, exhausts and even electric power steering motors and aerodynamic aids. Plus, your point in general doesn't hold any water since we have both a modern and an old Supercar (Scintilla vs Bolide), both a modern and an old Hatchback (FCVs vs Covet) and both a modern and some old American RWD Sedans (Bastion vs Burnside Special, Bluebuck and Grand Marshal). "Technology" is the key word here.
This could very well be possible, in fact I’m not even completely sure the trophy truck would release in this update. In terms of differentiating new truck from the D-series I would, from the point of view of the devs, say that it should be a non American brand, probably asian or european, and be from a smaller size class (compact or midsize). That brings us to what brand it should be. Ibishu already has 8 vehicles but Hirochi has 2 only, so of our two Japanese brands I think hirochi would be more likely for the sake of not oversaturating the Ibishu lineup. Now, if they would decide to make the new truck European, it would probably be an ETK, maybe even Cherrier as Peugeot does make pickup trucks for latin American and African markets. Autobelo is highly unlikely considering they already teased the autobelo van. It’s not impossible, however, since I’ve seen a lot of folks speculating that one of the teased buggies might be Piccolina based, so it’s possible that the entire update could be centered around autobelo in terms of vehicles (though im still not convinced this is the case) finally, let us consider the possibility of a completely new brand. I’m not sure that this is the case since it’s not too often that they add new brands, but then again look at the upcoming FPU vehicle.
Adding onto things that differentiate a hypothetical modern truck from the existing D-Series is the sheer absurd capabilities of modern full sized trucks... The 2000MY superduties towing capacity was usually around 13k lb to a hair over 14k lb depending on equipment. A top spec 2022 superduty can tow something like 37k lb with a gooseneck trailer.
And there were even (rare) electric conversion cars being sold back in the '60s, like the Henney Kilowatt (based on the Renault Dauphine). And there was also the Ford Ranger EV, an official conversion of the Ranger truck sold from 1997-2002 - almost the same years as the facelift D-Series. However, the Ranger's a much smaller and lighter truck than the D-Series - while it's not unrealistic for there to be an electric truck from the Y2K era in Beam, I don't know if the D-Series is the truck for it. A modern pickup truck could definitely have an EV version, like the Ford Lightning EV. Speaking of EVs, we haven't gotten a new one in over two years - but I don't think any of the four/five new vehicles (trophy truck/T-Rex buggy, Piccobuggy, Bello bus, and XTV) will be getting an EV version. If they are, the XTV could receive an EV version, since Argo makes the Atlas EV.
I agree, the Camper Shell Two Tone needs to make a return at some point, since I liked making trucks with the camper shell a different color from the rest of the truck.
Oh there's a lot of reasons to want one They are a generally versatile platforms A full sized BoF truck would be a great old/new comparison to the D-Series A Bruckell truck would use existing engines, allow for an i6 diesel (not as unique now that the Autobello truck should have one, but still... It would be a lot larger and more powerful than the Autobello's). If it is a Bruckell it would add a ton to the lore A Raptor/TRX would finally bridge the gap between the prerunner and off-road D-Series. We don't have anything that is to the Prerunner what the pig is to the super pig, and that large performance gap is going to be awkward for career mode's progression. I'd prefer the D-Series get a config to fill this gap but at this point I'd be happy with anything in this gap at all... Factory extreme off road (or whatever Forza Horizon calls it) as an entire niche is completely empty currently, and it's important. IRL those things are selling like crazy, or at least getting headlines. Raptor, TRX, Bronco Raptor, Wrangler 392, all the top spec G-Wagons, V8 Defender, TRD 4-runner, etc... An electric version would be really unique and relevant to current automotive innovations and news More cargo haulers in general will be useful for career mode. If you want to do the handy-man missions without a trailer your options are pretty limited right now I have no issue with people wanting one, it's probably top 3 on my own personal wish list. My issue comes when people start saying we shouldn't be getting something else because of their desire for this. I'm sure when we eventually do get one and people say "we shouldn't get it because it's just a D-Series" I'll be having these same conversations once more defending it's existence
Newest F-450 rated at 40K for the base trim with the most HO Powerstroke, which is absolutely insane.
There’s also the possibility of modern aftermarket EV conversions, which would fit on things like the Barstow, Picco, and Miramar. I could see a White Zombie type EV drag car for the latter (look it up).
Oh, absolutely. The Miramar could even get a factory EV conversion, like one Japanese sedan of the era got. I can't quite remember which one it was, though, but it would be fairly interesting to drive. However, with how few electrics we have in general, and how the devs seem to be focusing quite heavily in the modern/off-road area for new vehicles and significant upgrades/mods to the current vehicles, I don't see any of the classic cars getting EV conversions anytime soon. I could be wrong, though. You seem to have to do that a lot.
https://www.beamng.com/threads/italy-progress.24505/page-1 I wish we had a thread like this for the new map.
Probably not what you're thinking of, but the C130 Nissan Laurel had a really crazy factory EV configuration. A 1974 volume sedan with a single rear mounted 20hp electric motor, RWD, and a 2 speed auto transmission. I'd love to see that represented in game, it's just so weird The Dev team has been doing some incredible work the past few years putting out some amazing and exciting content, outdoing themselves each time, adding new gameplay features and setting new precedents. And then with every vehicle since the Piccolina I see people say they aren't happy for with it whatever reason and think the team was wrong to make it... Can't help myself...
To be fair, a real tracked vehicle with BeamNGs physic engine is something I would also love to see. It doesnt have to be a tank.
