That thing has a damn overhead courtesy light, very impressive. Also the Valiant was use extensively as a tow car in its early life (hence why it on it third engine now) and it has a similar switch under the dash, seems like a three way switch. Had a look: Its got three wires, two going to unknown places and a third that is no longer hooked up the main fuse block. No idea what it had done previously. Now im thinking was used as airpump for the rear shocks, does your pops Ranger have air shock in the rear? that might explain what that is

No, it doesn’t have any air shocks. IDK what that switch is

That seems like an electronic ignition module, and ask your grampa, maybe it had them in the past?

Cool pickup. I see an aftermarket looking fog light on the front bumper, I'd bet that's what the switch is for. I could tell the thing under the dash wasn't quite what I would expect a CB to look like so I googled it.

    Pretty cool vintage audio stuff.

Got a mail order tune for my 4.2 Trailblazer today. Lost a bolt when installing the PCM but that's to be expected. Works great, got rid of most stock limiters and now the truck revs to 6200 rpm in park and neutral (factory limits to about 4500). Also got a new intake, nothing special just a higher flow box. All together I'm sitting at almost 300 hp. In a few months when I get back from deployment (family installs parts while I'm gone) I will be rebuilding a stronger GM 8.6 rear end with a locker and 4.10 gears

Today i did my first ever valve adjustment, three hours of pure agonising fun ! At least the car runs marginally better than before, also bled the brakes, which made the whole 9 inch drums all round situation even worse. Guess ill be trying to fix that tomorrow

Fiddled around with the valve lash, now that ive got the hang of it it only takes a few minutes. Set roughly to the stock clearance of 20 exhaust and 10 intake. Really woke the thing up, in drive second gear kept on winding out past 60mph without any struggle or slightest surge and thats with a 3.55 diff ratio so that would about 4600 to 4700rpm. It just pulled like the fucken Mallard, i swear that thing just went from 15 to 62mph in less 800 metres and still had more. I really gotta take this thing to the drags. Also found the radiator had some big chunks of rust in there (even though it was recored and the engine rebuilt) when i changed the t-stat, that might be why it runs on the warm side at higher speeds, so i need to flush that all out. Oh and i repainted the the top halve of the engine in the correctish colour, not that damn Ford blue. And now the t-stat housing is leaking... great

    Hmm thats good

Hot oil splashing, dropping spanners, hand getting pummeled by the master cylinder. Fun stuff!

All i need to get done now is swap out the diff ratio for a 2.92 (its got 3.5s), recurve the distributer, its got way too much overall advance and it comes in way too late, then put on new front drums and remove a leaf on each side so it becomes significantly softer, something that one would want on the south of southern highways of which i am moving down to

not a car but i got a old tiller 2hp briggs and stratton motor i got out of my great grandfathers barn a couple years ago running. cleaned the main jet, cleaned the gas tank, unclogged the fuel pickup tube, new carb gasket, cleaned out the inside of the carb as much as i could with brake cleaner, and new oil sorta(i couldnt get the drain plug out it was so seazed even after heating it and using wd40 or whatever else i had that with a huge amount of leverage my 10mm wrench i was using bent and the drain plug still didnt rotate so i had to just dump as much as i could out the fill hole)

I bought some factory trim rings and applied some shine juice, although it seems i need to do another coat or two. Also couldn't repair the old washer pump so i just professionally wired in another one with a ziptie

Finally got to rebuilding the suspension on my truck. Completely rebuilt the front end with new suspension, axles and gearing, rebuilt the front differential with 4.10 gears(this was hell, the axle shaft goes through the oil pan on Trailblazers and you have to pull the whole thing to remove the differential). The rear end was more simple, just pulled the old GM 8.0 10 bolt and replaced it with a rebuild 8.6 10 bolt with 4.10 gears and a Detroit locker, then put on adjustable control arms and a panhard bar. The last thing I did was weld up a frame for a skidplate and fuel can holder, the skidplate is 1/2 inch square tube steel with 3/16 inch 5051 aluminum plate and the fuel can holder is 3/16 steel angle stock made to also double as a step to reach the roof. I got to test the rig offroad, found some mud and rocks, does pretty good in both but not great because of the open diff, but next time I go into the diff I,m welding the gears.

Did a couple of things on my car recently i installed new brakes on the front, installed an apr open air intake and did a lot of coding on it via VCP where you can unlock loads of features on VW group cars im currently waiting on someone to reply who can help me get the newer DCC from the 2022 passat and the engine sound of the soundaktor from the Audi RS4. Also i installed a Ulter exhaust system on my car but i sadly dont have pictures of it
