Please read the controls section! if you are experiencing no sound please go into the audio settings and tick stereo headphones, you will need to do this every time you switch maps hello, Fixed this this time i changed the tail rotor weight and adjusted the main rotor strength. the mod is from 2014 and was made for completely different physics than the ones today, its a lot harder to control. controls: throttle= forward & power reverse= reverse direction steering= steering (bit sluggish) >= drop fuel pods how to land: you cant yet in order to properly fly it you need to use a controller, you also need to use low rpm/throttle otherwise it shoots up uncontrollably and crashes, try to keep the revs around 15.5 on the speedometer. to keep it in the air you need to hold forward lightly and lightly hold reverse (or hard hold it depending how far you need to go, but general flying only needs a light hold). it takes time to learn but im still learning how to make better controls, or you can just learn how to fly it your own way. Im planing on updating this soon. @DrowsySam i tried to contact you with something similar but you never responded, if you would like me to get this taken down please let me know. EDIT: permission received bugs: rotor can spike slightly on hard crashes Holding reverse without pressing throttle can cause the vehicle to freeze, unsure what is going on there. credits: (partly copied from og thread) Mesh - 3dregenerator Jbeam - DrowsySam adwuga - Updating for experimental Newer credits: @dumpling suspension tweaking enjoy! zip updated 30/11/2022
Oh finally, I have been looking every now and then to see if someone fixed this mod like how someone fixed the BTR-80. Now I just need to wait for someone to release a 2010's era tahoe that has a police version.
update, tweaked the weight a bit more so it doesn't lose control when turning, new download on first post
https://www.beamng.com/members/drowsysam.3497/ Join this man's Discord, he's got a kinda fixed version there. You'll find the Discord somewhere on that page.
I'd have to compare the two to see which is better, Drowsy's is kinda janky, and I imagine yours could be too.
I know this is a somewhat random comment, but I don't mind how this flies at all, since it flies almost like a cheap R/C helicopter, my only complaint is that I have to remove the wheels in order to land, since I can't get the parking brake to work so it just rolls for ages. Hopefully this is just me being dumb rather than an issue with the mod.
small update, @dumpling tweaked the suspension so its more sturdy (thanks), more weight has been added so it flies better, still struggling with the brakes. check the first post for the update.
So removing the fuel pods modifications causes banana-copter when you you use full throttle. Oddly, this does not happen when you drop the tanks, just when you select "Empty" for fuel pods. It feels almost like removing this modification reduces the structural integrity. (also I can't tell, but this helicopter feels like it crashed with less spikeyness before the most recent update, but that could just be me having confirmation bias) On the plus side, I found a workaround for not having brakes, I just made a config with no tail wheel to increase friction on the ground. (not pictured here since I was performing a process of elimination to figure out what was causing the banana-copter)
Thats a strange one, ill take a look at it when i can, You are right there, i didnt feel it deformed enough on crashes, but for this mod the downside for having realistic-ish crashes is a few spikes :/
I wonder how hard it would be to implement the heli controls from the Super Gnat, with full collective, cyclic and anti-torque
I’m almost certain it would require a complete remake of the mod. It would be awesome, but it’d also be a lot of work.
