Because windows installs its own default drivers as it installs windows

Is anyone else on the experimental version having trouble on the main menu GUI, where it responds incredibly slowly and the framerate is locked at 1 FPS?

Yep, only on the main menu. In the actual game itself is fine.

Because the installer uses really really basic drivers that dont require installing, windows will not run without any drivers (even if you do have to use rediculously generic drivers)

Anyone here who has a 4690K on the stock cooler?
Could you check your max CPU temp after playing BeamNG for a while? I got max ~80C with turbo boost disabled completely which seems way too high, considering my FX 6100 only got up to 67C.
The cooler is installed properly, so if it's actually overheating I might have to RMA the CPU.

I run ~80C max on the stock cooler with a 4.4GHz overclock...
Though I've got seven case fans and the ambient temp is typically lowish.

Are you retarded? 80c is bad.

Mine is running 68c max at 4.6 right now.

Yeah, I guess it doesn't like my shitbox case either.
I have a single 120mm fan on the back, 2 80mm on the side and one 120mm on the front, although that is literally covered by the front panel.

Still, isn't ~80C with turbo boost disabled (max 3.5 GHz) a bit too much?
I tested a bunch other games and got ~73C max, still around 7C more than my 6100 with turbo boost on.

Intel just doesn't know how to make a good stock air cooler

My pc stays at 32c idle, if I do anything else it instantly gets up to the 50's, and if ambient temp in my house gets any higher then normal, the cpu cooler fan speeds up, but temps still go high, you just need a better cpu cooler is all (the hyper 212 evo is a good one I believe)

What temperatures do you get after playing BeamNG for a while?
I really want to know, don't want my CPU to die from overheating. If something's wrong with it, I'll RMA it asap.

My cpu usually stays under 60c, but it could still be a bit lower then it gets with a decent cooler

Then 80 is way too high. I actually got that temp while testing with 2 T75's, which I never actually do. I actually enjoy driving and simulating 1-2 car accidents rather than causing massive chaos.
But with a single D-15 my temperatures were around 72-75c, a bit too high since the CPU isn't boosting. Or maybe Intel's cooler is even worse than AMD's...

    Re: General discussion chat

Your also on Haswell, which is a smaller chip (meaning less surface area for heat to be transferred)

Haswell also is known for heating up a bit more then ivy-bridge(its been known to get to 90c easily on stock cooler) intel makes horrible stock coolers is all

So get a decent cooler (such as hyper 212 evo) and you'll be fine

Thanks, really useful guide. It seems you have to add 5c to the Tcase temp to get the actual max core temp, which means it's around 77.5c. 80c is too hot and can shorten the CPU's lifespan, but I only exceeded 75 when testing peak load. So I guess I just have to keep boosting off until I get a new cooler... And not use 2 T75's at once :p

Well, I'll need to buy a cooler. If only I had any money at all...
