WIP Cliff PBR 1.2

Hello everyone!​

As the title says, this is the Cliff PBR! ​

This is a smaller project. I saw that the Cliff map is still untouched by the devs, so decided to convert it to PBR.
I also improved the lighting on the map, so it looks even better.

Bring back your memories with this PBR'd, improved version!




The map contains:

-PBR materials, every material is PBR from grass to rocks
-Improved lighting
-Small improvements related to vegetation and terrain (added a few small islands)

Plans:

Based on community feedback, I may improve this map with decals, missions and more! So, if you think this map should get a full remaster, let me know in the maps thread!

Fourth screenshot gave me Fortune Island vibes lol, looks good though. Glad somebody has done this even if the devs get round to it eventually

 

How did you go about converting the map to PBR? Namely the main base map textures.

I used ecusa's materials (they share them I think, I mean the rock, grass, dirt are the same). Also, I needed custom, new blank textures (desats) for the materials (I had to make it in Gimp)

 

Most of the map is great but for some reason the sand is black. I've tried disabling all other mods, deep cache cleaning, and clean reinstalling.

There are leftovers of the sand material all around the map under the ocean as well as visible on the coast at one point:


I recommend either entirely removing it or keeping a few sand spots, most pebble coasts aren't all rock after all
You also left a lot of unused files in the repo release, mainly the old terrain textures being there twice. The vegetation also isn't PBR so that's kind of false advertising in my opinion

Firstly, thank you for playing with my map! I'm glad people play them!

Let me answer to you:

That's true. But, as I said, this is the very first version, so I will fix the issues in the next update(s).

I respect your opinion, but now I disagree with you. I did not say Full PBR in the repo site intentionally, only "PBR" to avoid comments like "Liar", "fake advertising" and such. So, basically this is known.

I understand your point, but please understand mine as well: these issues are fixable, so please remember this: at the end of the day, this is just an improved Cliff Map, which is in the first steps (v0.1).
This map is made for those who want to bring back their memories with this improved map.

Again, I don't want any kind of argument at all. And thank you for your comments, as I am now able to focus on the terrain, decals, and materials better!
I already working on the next update with fixes and improvements!

maybe lighthouse on the top of the island connected to port with a road
also you can add road with a tunnel and other buildings (houses, gas station, etc.)

 

It’s just meant to be a PBR update to the vanilla Cliff map
