Bump Didn't do much progress in the last few months, as I spent most of my weekends mountain biking and doing other stuff, like playing with my new simrig. In the last week I gave it a big push to finish the small thingies that were left to do, meaning it should be available on the repo soonish.
it's still nowadays one excellent offrad vehicle, there is an old mod of the willies jeep that still works and is one of the most capable offroad vehicles one can drive in beamng, perhaps you can take ideas from it edit: here is the mod link: https://www.beamng.com/resources/hellhopper.1819/ the only drawback of that mod is that wheels are a bit big for it for my taste and it has no civilian version, perhaps could you add a similar skin as well?
I love the mod. But I found that there are 2 rear license plates in the config editor and one of them is the side mirror
Great mod by the way, i love seeing a WW2 jeep in the game. Say, will it have roofs just like this one for an example?
I asked this in my rating of the mod. In the future, will there be a soft top variant where it has the roof bars up and then the soft top applied? (This is something that just came up) Maybe even a Ford GPA version! It could be called the Gavril GPA!
Main issue I have with the soft top is also figuring it out it will handle things like crashes and getting detached from the window. With a standard modern style convertible top, you can just do like Lucas did with the ETK K-Series, and just have it detach from the window so it folds itself (or have the structure get bent), however the Jeep's softtop doesn't really work like that, and from what I understand the top's tension is a pretty big factor in it staying up, kinda like a tent. If I figure something out I'll see, but I'll probably start with making a softtop for the superlite, since it's attached somewhat similarily, but all the components it attaches to are fixed. What do you mean? Biggest issue with making a hellhopper is that it requires making a duplicate chassis, which is one of the more central components of the vehicle. That's something I'd be down to do eventually, but I prefer waiting to see if people find any weird bugs and such, avoid having to fix them twice. For the rat-rod skin it's something that I'd like to eventually do, along with a rat-rod variant similar to the roadkill jeep. I had started setting up a Gavril V8 in it as well as a proof of concept, but that got temporarily dropped so I could instead release the already fairly complete stuff for proper testing and so y'all could enjoy it .
in the future will there be made more of a thing for it being gavril? (badges and such) --- Post updated --- IDC GIB NOW /s unlez u want to
I've noticed that a number of the configs have descriptions that say they have 4-speed manuals but don't actually have those, they retain the 3-speed.
Leaf spring mounts might want to get their own nodes, spring mesh tends to leave the mount/shackle at droop
