Mod takes up a lot more space than it's size?

I'll get straight to the point, BeamNG quite literally EATS my storage after installing a mod. In this video you can see, I install the Ibishu Kashira Gen 2 to my game, and the mod i only 300mb. However, after I launch the game, out of nowhere, 2 gb are gone?

This is not the first time it happened either, when I installed the CRGZ Revamp Prasu (which is a 500mb mod if I remember correctly), it took up 19 gb of my storage.

I have no clue why this happens, and if anyone knows how to fix this, please explain me because I'm about to go crazy.

If you take a look at the contents of the zip file you'll notice it's over 2 GB compressed. Most of the size is being taken up by dds files.

It could be the cache, or the mod manager spamming the mod database file with metadata, or both of these things combined

Alright, I cleaned my cache and I cleared about 2gb, I then restarted my pc and freed up 20gb somehow.

This is something that I have also pointed out back when version 0.25 was released, except it's not just mods that results in the game taking up a few GB of hard drive space during a session. It can also happen with official content and without any mods installed or enabled.

Take, for instance, a quick session on Grid, Small, Pure with the default Gavril D15 V8 4WD. As stated before, the game used up an additional 2 GB of space. Compare that to the temp folder (where the cache is located), which was only a few hundred MB in size. While closing the game and clearing the cache freed up most of the space it took, only after restarting my computer did my storage space returned to the way it was before running the game.

To sum up what I have said, the more detailed a level is, the more hard drive space the game uses up (meaning a map like Italy will take up even more space than Grid, Small, Pure). And it goes without saying that it will also take up more space the more mods you have (each of which may be large in file size) and use during a session. And while you and I and possibly many others still have no clue as to why this happens since version 0.25, you should have plenty of storage space on your hard drive to be on the safe side regardless.
