0.26 Discussion Thread

    Was this a 0.26 feature that didn't make it to the changelog? It has the same date as every other G2G mission, but I distinctly remember 0.25 didn't have this because I downloaded a similar scenario from the repository.


    Also, some bugs I noticed while playing it:

    The description says it starts in Downtown, which isn't always the case (also "at the Downtown" could be dropped from the title):

    The progress on the job overview screen doesn't have a scrollbar and spills off screen:

    Traffic lights don't work, even after you abandon the mission (tested in safe mode, and the mission isn't on the Freeroam map so I can't test if starting Freeroam first fixes it):



    Edit: I also found a rather odd bug in the menu, if you click a scenario a few times (around 1-2 per second so it doesn't activate double clicking to play) trying to play the game just takes you back to the main menu and you're forced to restart.

    So, I found a couple interesting bugs with the 200BX (0.26.1, no mods, cleared cache, etc.):

    This is how much power the base 200BX makes completely stock:

    Unlike every other car (AFAIK), where choosing progressively stronger blocks takes off about 2 horsepower per stage, the 200BX loses 14 horsepower with the HD long block, but gains 24 horsepower with the UHD long block.

    EDIT: The Covet and 1988 Pessima also have this issue (happens with all their engines), and I don't know why they and the 200BX are the only vehicles where this is the case. Is this intentional?

    Also, the Stage 3 Performance Long Block's name should have a space between "3" and "Performance".

    Not really a bug but One thing I think has gotten worse with BeamNG over time is the Main Menu. It used to be a view of the different maps (like you were on there) but now it is just an image. I also think it needs some music from Gabester's sound track. I made a video on my youtube channel showing how much better the menu used to be (with Gabe's music playing, to show how it is even better with it)

    And I really appreciated the old loading screens aswell. I hope there is a mod someday that adds it back. :(

    When the menu background changed from video to pictures, YBR said it's good because the video wasn't encoded in the best quality. And I agree, it looks better and I've also noticed it's a bit more lenient to my old laptop GPU, so more lenient to old and not really powerful systems in general.

    Yep, if it's gonna be an option, then I absolutely agree because BeamNG already gives us almost 100% freedom of choice.

    I may or may not look good or bad, but the slider should definitely not cap out at 0.5. It should then be remapped so that 1 is actually just as much motion blur a currently 0.5, but a slider shouldn't cap out at 0.5. Still, how is it that some players have this 0.5 limit and others don't?

    It's a shame the 2.0 GTz Special Edition isn't part of the new update because the parts are still there. But the 2.0 GTz Special Edition has the Ibishu Type-ZS wheels and not the Type-LSs seen here on the red example. On the other hand, a JDM GTz Special Edition would be nice for the 1.5 GTz Turbo with this wheel, the Ibishu Suprema! Looks like it matches the white GTz Factory Graphics! ;)
    Plus, since we're talking about the most expensive FWD versions, they could also have some extras. The Sport Seats, the 3-spoke Sport Steering Wheel, the GTz suspension components, the Front Strut Brace and the Body Coloured Rear Fascia, for letting the GTz Factory Graphics continue between the taillights, would be great!

    Idk, anything over 0.5 seems cartoonish, so I don't think it would make any sense at all.

    I don't mean to increase the actual motion blur limit. Just make it so that 1 corresponds to the current 0.5, so that the slider has the range 0-1, not 0-0.5 . If my slider would have gone up to 1 even though the motion blur was not any stronger than it is now at 0.5, I surely would not have asked my question in the first place; limiting to 0.5 just causes confusion.

    Hey, fellow old i5 CPU user here. i5's can run the game decently, don't underestimate an old i5, they were (and still are) a great compromise of cost/performance!

    Problem is, what you describe... isn't really an i5 at all, it's actually a Celeron, a different product by Intel, specifically it's a U-series Celeron, which means an 80's Gavril small SUV a small, energy-efficient CPU, ideal for office work, not quite for gaming. Actually it's pretty surprising it ran Beam so far.
    Here are some suggestions which might help you keep the game running on weak CPU's:
    - Reduce graphic settings to a minimum, since I assume your PC has an integrated GPU, so less graphics will give your CPU more performance in other areas apart from the graphics.
    - Remove all AI. Celeron has 2 cores, so it would struggle (even more than it currently is) with anything above 2 cars.
    - Ensure the laptop gets enough ventilation, it's bottom part must be exposed to air and not blocked
    - If all else fails, it is possible to revert to an older version of the game, as described here. There might be other (newer) versions you can revert to, but they won't have the new content (if you choose to do so).

    I got it now. I think this would be wrong since, to my understanding of reading comments and reviews for other games with motion blur, there's already a scaling unit for motion blur and its bottom and top ends are "0" and "1" respectively, so it makes it easier for us to understand what the highest most appropriate level of motion blur is for BeamNG specifically, as the dev team has decided. And they decided that the 0.5 is the highest it can go in this game because they found (and we can see) that the simulation of speed gets a bit cartoonish above that level, as I said.

    Is anyone having trouble with traffic AI? I get quite a bit of lag from traffic which I didnĀ“t use to get. Simplified vehicles makes it better but I did never get this lag with traffic because my computer is pretty good, is this like last update where there were some performance issues that were later fixed??
