very appreciated remaster, I loved the old one and love the new. The flatbed version crashes every time I change the tire pressure or wheel offset, it`s only on my side?

Oh I know what the problem is. The texture doesn't have dimensions that are both power of 2. While the game was totally okay with it, now that I cleared the cache again, it refuses to load for me either (says import failed for all gauge textures). I'll fix it in the next couple of days, but I'll have to remap it, too (UV).

Whoops, that seems to be a leftover jbeam. There is actually a jbeamed bed with roof that works physically, but it's ugly texture-wise..imma see if I can remove the older version.

And what is the difference between the 1968 and the 1974 body? o_O

Ah yes, atomix let me use his model of a newer steering wheel...I forgot I put it somewhere. It's not quite fitting for this dashboard though, I'd have to make a newer version of the dashboard that would go with that steering wheel...I think I'll remove it for now. I might make a new dash (and gauges and steer) sometime in the future.

Finally good deformation! But there are LOTS of bugs on my end:
    • Massive console error spam that severely slows down the loading of the car
      1.png 2.png
    • Uses PNG textures instead of DDS, like the Satsuma mod, that makes it even slower
    • Most front lights are way too transparent, you can literally see the inside of the car through them. At first I thought the glass was missing because it's barely visible.
      3.png
    • Taillights are way too dim, you can barely tell if they are turned on or off. Meanwhile front turn signals are way too bright.
      4.png
    • Gauges are completely broken for me, most likely due to being PNG instead of DDS. Could be just my GPU but it could also be like this for other people so you should fix it.
      5.png
    • For some reason the exhaust sometimes produces red smoke instead of black. Can't reliably reproduce it. Best screenshot I got of it:
      6.png
    • There is still no fuel tank and no driveshaft.
    • Broken glass still has reflections in the empty parts:
      7.png
    • Antenna won't break off.
    • Engine cover should be removable in parts selector but it's not.
    • Lots of meshes are one sided and the back side is see through.
    • The 'super powerful' engine makes less than 100hp and can barely reach highway speed, is it a joke of some sort?
    • The Jbeam is overall wack, nodes are too far away from the body, there are lots of missing triangles, and the beams on the body are not very well done.
    • Body not separable from the frame, that 'fake unibody' approach is way outdated and doesn't simulate the chassis flex and the crashes properly.
    • Loads are made of rubber so they leave skid marks like tires and don't make impact sounds, this is kinda funny but you should really change them to be plastic.
    • As pointed before there seem to be no stock configs at all, if some of the ones in the mod are stock then you should differentiate it in the config descriptions. As funny as the descriptions are, they are not useful at all.
    • The flatbed with tarp really should have its own config, it's such a waste to leave it out only because the texture looks slightly jank. And it should be colorable via 2nd or 3rd palette, and should be breakable.
    • It really should feature the iconic Skoda green colors, no idea why they were not included, they can be commonly seen on photos.
    • It should have a spare tire that can fall off like the D-Series.
    • Being such an old car, it really should have a rusty skin. And a beater config with mismatched parts and blown head gasket. Something like this but rusty:
      8.png
The mod has improved A LOT since the previous version, but there are still so many issues. I would advise redoing the body Jbeam completely to split the body and frame and fix all the issues with it caused by the badly done nodes, beams and triangles, but the other parts are good enough now.

Definitely needs a rusty beater skin, as others have stated. Other than that, what a fantastic remaster. This thing is such a riot to drive. Well done.

The later body doesn't have the visor above the windshield, so it is more aerodynamic. Also, not sure if it's just a coincidence, but I think it has that little gap below the front doors to step on, so I modelled that as well.

    Oh shoot, will fix that.

I hear you, but I tried on the discord over and over and I only got vague advice about the jbeam...I redone it like 4 times now and this is the best result I got. I don't really know what improves it at this point, if you wanna play with it and improve the physics, that would be great!

Especially the stuff you're talking about, unibody, beams etc. I have no clue really. I just kinda tried until something somehow works.

Engine cover is inside, it would rarely do anything even in hard crashes so I decided to leave it as is.

I really don't know what this "stock config" thing is people keep mentioning. I'd love to add what needs to be added, but I'm not sure what it's supposed to do?

I tried to make the tarp colorable, it looked absolutely terrible. I searched so hard for some good scrape/wrinkle brushes online and couldn't find anything. When I tried to sculpt something on my own to bake as normals, the result was horrible. So I gave up.

Funny thing is, the original version from 2020 had a spare tire. But it was hidden in a space that's no longer available (i.e. it would be positioned weirdly). I can think of something.

Rusty/beater...again...tried to search for some rust textures/brushes to paint, failed miserably. I'm just not good at texturing, seems like an impossible task to me. Feel free to make one though! ;)

For the loads being rubber, I'm not sure what to do there either. Plastic sounds ridiculous when it hits the ground, that's not what soft luggage should sound like haha. But I changed it to plastic for now. Funnily enough, the documentation lists couple dozen various materials one can use. I tried couple and none made any sounds on impact, only plastic and metal. Maybe I didn't try enough of them...

I uploaded a version which should have the gauges fixed. Lmk if it works. Will do more tomorrow.

List of major problems with the body Jbeam I found, hopefully it will help:
    • Obviously body is not separable from the frame, it is made in a way as if there was no frame at all as the floor has not enough rigidity that a frame would add
    • Nodes are positioned too far away from the body, which causes 'spikes' but not really, the model is low poly enough to avoid spiking so it just has weird dents with shading issues instead.
    • The beams are all over the place on the main body. On the other parts they seem fine, but the body has many issues. No distinction between various kinds of beams (vertical, length, width, surficial crossing, rigids, corner rigids), that is well explained on the MFD server in pinned messages. Lots of beams leaving to non-existent nodes. Use of zero size beams (couplers are way better to use in that case).
    • Many triangles are degenerate or otherwise messed up. And there are holes in some places on the body and doors where triangles should be. The glass should also have breakable triangles instead of nothing there. Flatbed sides have no triangles at all, generally flatbed variant has tons of missing triangles.
    • Body doesn't seem to have any rigidifiers, instead it relies structurally purely on corner rigids. That makes it bend weird on the corners, instead it should have weak corner rigids and a rigidifier for each flat surface to support itself.
About the engine cover I just want it removable via parts selector so I can see the oil filler from the interior and pretend I'm filling it up lol. Doesn't need to have Jbeam. But since the seats already can fall off so why not?

By stock configs I mean how the car came from factory for the general public. Like the Passenger version but without the roof rack, in the '68 and '73 version. They should probably be the cheapest versions. (Prices should be tweaked btw, they don't seem reasonable. The police, ambulance and stuff should be much more expensive than the van, flatbed and COM.)

The tarp is already colorable, maybe you forgot. But I mean it should be the second palette instead of first. Change baseColorMap to colorPaletteMap and make it fully green.

Yes only metal and plastic have sounds, this is why plastic is usually used on loads. It sounds wrong but at least it makes some sound. Rubber also makes skid marks so don't use it.

Looks pretty good, though I think the rust is too dense in places, like make the patches not as big everywhere and only small stripes on the edges of the panels, not sure

yeah i can tone it down, by the way question: should i include one skin with just rust and dirt together, or three skin one with rust one with dirt and one together?
