Some of you are seriously talented in working on jbeam / the physics in general :)

    (You're such an amazing community!! < 3 )

Was wondering if there is interest in having a loose get-together in discord to discuss challenges / problems / upcoming ideas regarding the technical side of things.

We would love to solve some of your problems together with you and understand more what you do :)

Also, it would help us designing some of the new systems with your feedback :)

If you are interested, please reply to this thread and what you would like to talk about :)

UPDATE: Date/Time to be determined once we know if there is interest in this
UPDATE2: This is not a beginner tutorial or workshop, but a discussion between advanced users. Please do not expect us to guide you through the technical challenges of how to create mods in this.

    Update3: Proposed topics:
    • Short intro
    • Basic tips and tricks to work with BeamNG
    • incomplete / missing documentation: What bits do you want explanation for? What should be documented?
    • Changes to the variables system in 0.26, Advanced features of the system
    • Proposed slot variables system: demo + use cases
    • Demo of the new vehicle editor? Why is it different to the previous editor attempts? High level workflow.
    • Feedback on the vehicle editor :)
    • ... More to be added :)

I would love a little session on how to use the new tools provided, as well as glow mapping!

Ive already talked to another dev about this before and i understand there is limitations of the game engine but collision triangles having collision with the ground would be a game changer in terms of skid-plates being useful tires not popping as often on sharp rocks and just generally more accurate collision with the ground

It would be nice if it could be recorded somehow - BeamNG modding is something I've always wanted to get into but have never found the time - being able to listen to things like that at my leisure would be nice.

I agree with @bmwcrazy456, this should definitely be recorded and posted to YouTube or the like if it happens. Many smaller modders like myself who are still learning could find a lot of this information very helpful.

Edit: Also I do completely understand that this is going to be very technical and high-level stuff, but I'd still like to hear it.

This would be cool. Could be an opportunity for people to really explain some of their suggestions, and for people learn some new things.

Idk if I would participate myself, but I would like that to be recorded too. If I did participate, I would talk about the variables system, it's kinda broken and weird currently (pretty sure you are aware of it but if not I can demonstrate examples), could use a non-linear scale option, and most importantly would be good to have 'constant' values similar to variables that are not adjustable and can be modified by parts in the Jbeam. And also would be cool to know if there is some mathematical way of setting beam spring and damp instead of trial and error or adjusting values from other parts to the weight of the new part.

Count me in! I have some ideas regarding Jbeam that I think pep will like, some I have tried and created successfully and some I haven’t tried yet.

    Sounds awesome.
Most of my technical issues are to do with setting up beams such as like what Agent_Y said with finding values for beamspring/damp. Also special beams like support/bounded/torsion etc, figuring out where to put them and what values to use.
Don't know if that's technical enough for this but I'm interested for sure
