I've been getting into blender for things like barriers and pavements (sidewalks), etc. To do this, I generally create a grid (1024X1024), then displace this with the heightmap. Then add he objects I want and export them across to BeamNG. I wondered if people had a good method for making the blender displacement match the same height as the level? in addition, I often have to split my heightmap into quarters, because my PC can't make an 8k grid without crashing in blender, so I do it in sections (it can just about do 2k). How would you go about matching the heights for that? I'd also love to match the location. I'm sure I can work all this out given enough time and thought, but if there is a more simple way, I'd love to know. Cheers in advance. EF
I use the plugin BlenderGIS to import GeoTiff files, and choose the option of displacement on new mesh. You can then choose how much to subdivide (higher subdivision -> more detail). Of course this gets laggy, but then i use the boolean tool to remove any non used areas, just using simple shapes. This works well on mountain roads, but large areas of detail, it might not be as simple.
