The traffic at the moment takes up a lot of fps and the maximum amount is only 12 cars. If lower quality traffic models were used without interiors, detailed jbeam, physics, low res textures etc (sort of like the traffic in the game city car driving) which im not sure if its possible in beamng but if it is, it would significantly reduce the fps and allow more traffic. Basically the traffic in beamng right now is unnecessarily detailed.
This is BeamNG, not GTA. It's not in the scope of the game. BeamNG is a soft-body physics simulator. Each vehicle uses one thread from your CPU. More CPUs with more cores and threads can handle more cars. Simple as that.
So you mean no matter how detailed the car model is, it wont affect fps? Also im not talking about gta v. The way the traffic works in city car driving is completely different to gta v.
To a point, that is exactly what I am saying. BeamNG is much more CPU bound than GPU bound when you have multiple vehicles on the same map. It has to calculate all vehicles 2000 times per second, and without the details, the vehicles in BeamNG can't even drive. Now, unless you have a potato as a PC, car models won't really impact in-game performance. The latter can be verified by literally pausing the physics.
What you suggest is not unheard of, having reduced detail vehicles JUST for the sake of saving on performance, however the dev team i dont think wants to make that compromise, and that would also remove your ability to be able to enter into any AI car you want.
