i want to try and make a mod for this game, anyone know the software i need and have any tips?

i have no clue what i am doing and if i did release it given i can figure out how to make it would be of low quality

 

what kind of mod? (i recomend starting very small and viewing the code for the engines and other parts for vanilla cars)

If you are going to start very small (config, basic engine, transmission, or intake jbeam mod), I recommend downloading Visual Studio code (i prefer it over Notepad++)
