will we ever see level streaming implemented in BeamNG, for larger maps to be feasible? i'm assuming the lack of it is the bottleneck for larger maps, which may not be the case.

Actually, a car like this would be great for the Bruckell/Soliad lineup representation in the early noughties. And a more up-to-date version of the Bruckell 3.3 V6 (or an earlier, transversely mounted version of the Bastion 3.5 V6) would do nicely for it, along with the existing 4-Speed Automatic with the Locking Torque Converter.

    i mean... beamng loves quirky cars, and we could use an early crossover (;

I‘ve never been so excited for the upcoming updates as I am now (except for 0.25) as so many incredible things have been teased/revealed by tdev

Yep, totally!! The Pigeon and Wigeon cousins and the Wendover (I mention the Wendover because you don't see FWD cars with transversely mounted V8s all the time) have proven this!! ;)

I'm beginning to wonder if the devs are implementing a system to filter variants of cars in the vehicle selector.
since the bolide remaster and the scintilla's release, both have been given USDM and EUDM configs,
and in 0.26, the covet is getting JDM (or at least some form of RHD) configurations, and the K-series has had some EUDM and USDM configs for quite a while, which will likely get rethought with its remaster.

this is a bit out there, but they could even automate the "market version" of the vehicle based on what map you spawn into, so in a config file, things like marker lights, bumpers, dashboards and gauge clusters can refer to an external config file, so you could have distinct EU, US, UK, J, AUS, etc. versions, without increasing the number of configs you have to QA check and make thumbnails for, while still allowing custom configurations to use specific parts (by specifically naming them in the config file).

I hope they remove the old Bolide loading screens and add some new ones on top of that, quite a simple but much appreicated change

honestly i kinda like seeing the half-remastered bolide loading screens. shows how much better they decided to go

that'd be awesome, how about a safety/pace car to accompany it?

I was thinking of an Australian Gavril subsidiary since Gavril has the I6 layout and since the niche of the modern large I6 engine (larger than the 3-liter units of the ETKs that is and I believe that 4 liters of displacement are just fine for this Barra-like engine) isn't represented in the game yet.
A modern Barstow would make sense having this engine, in both NA and Turbocharged versions, to complement any modern big V8 which may also come. In fact, any modern RWD Gavril to come can have this engine because the large gasoline I6 has become a Gavril trademark over the years.

who says an Australian car has to have an inline-6? since Holden ditched the old OHV "red six" (and used Nissan's RB30 once) in the 80s, the commodore has primarily used Buick-designed V6 engines, just like what the bastion has, and it's the same story with the few chrysler 300s we got as well.

I'm curious how, if they are adding some Australian car, what it's going to be, so as to be unique enough from all the existing American stuff.

-a 50s Australian car is a fair bit smaller than the Burnside, and it'd likely be a monocoque, but outside of body styles and trim levels, there's not a whole lot to realistically be done with them modification-wise; most people who hot-rodded them would go straight for engine conversions. It could be the first car in the game to have one tail light though.
-a 60s Australian car is basically just a market-adapted US compact, albeit with a ute/van variant, and the tuning options for these open up a fair bit. driving dynamics wise, I'd expect this to land somewhere between the Bluebuck and miramar, which is a fairly wide gap. I could see them doing this.
-a 70s "full-size" ends up being not that far off something like a Moonhawk, potentially BOF, with mostly V8 engines. considering the Moonhawk could also get an El Camino style body, I don't think this is likely.
-a 70s compact like a centura or torana could work, both started as British cars, then had the engine bay elongated to fit an I6, and something akin to an XU-1, SLR or A9X torana would appeal to the "normie" sim-racing audience they currently seem to be catering to.
-an 80s-90s full-size would be a bit larger and floatier than, say, an I-series, but unibody and much lighter than a grand marshal. there are also some funky homologation specials from this era.
-00s-10s cars are also iconic and have "normie" appeal in the form of high-performance variants, but most of this niche has already been filled by the bastion, and I doubt they're planning on giving it RHD parts or a ute body any time soon.

The other thing about an Australian car is the question of body variants, I kind of doubt they'd be likely to make both a sedan and ute of something, there currently aren't any cars with substantially different body variants.
At the same time, leaving it as a sedan feels like missing out on potential uniqueness, but making only a ute is also weird, it's like the ETK 800 being only a wagon; it's very obvious that there should be a more "default" body variant that isn't there.

Tbh, I didn't know most of these infos so thank you very much. I was thinking of the Barra I6 because, let's be honest, it's got a great fame. Especially in turbocharged form, it could give the NA V8s a run for their money. ;-)
I believe Gavril could be the one to have an Australian subsidiary for a number of reasons:

    • First the obvious, which is the Gavril 3.8/4.1 I6 succession. As I said, a modern large I6 deserves to exist in BeamNG because it's filling an empty niche (being an I6 larger than 3 liters). Plus the big displacement offers a great tuning potential.
    • Then the not so obvious, which is that the car powered by this engine can be a Unibody, RHD and offer a Ute body option as well. The Bastion is a Unibody but it's got no I6, no RHD and no Ute body option, so there's another niche to be filled by the Australian Gavril subsidiary. ;-)
    • Since you mentioned the Grand Marshal, the car in question can be a Unibody and coexist with the BOF Grand Marshal in the game lore, just like the Falcon did with the Crown Victoria IRL. ;)

Plus I agree, the Ute is too characteristic of a body to be passed up, just like the Sedan body for the 800 is a unique feature of the Small German RWD Sedan scene.

Combining ETS 2's way of tiling the map and making a huge one and BeamNG's incredible driving physics would be awesome. Often i find myself wanting to drive somewhere for 30mins straight but this is currently impossible on any BeamNG map without going in circles :(
