why not hirochi? they're known for being the small, quirky underdog brand, and a 70s SBR with a wankel in the back would be quite interesting...
I could see Hirochi getting the hypothetical wankels. I know flat engines are their thing but I don't really want to see "quirky Japanese engineering company" get stretched between two brands. As much as we need a vintage Japanese sports car, it isn't the only empty niche that could make use of a dorito. Minitrucks are also an option (Mazda REPU, Datsun 620, etc...) and would allow for some American/Japanese company cooperation, which could be interesting to see for the first time Cherrier also has some options here actually... And some prototype American cars (I'd love to see some non-production cars in game... Engineering test beds and the like would be great)
Seeing some discussions about terrain size. I dont think theres a huge need for larger maps although id definitely prefer one huge map instead of the current setup with alot of 'small' ones. Ive been diggin through plenty of stuff through the years and Torque3D, which BeamNG game engine is based off of, and i do remember some kind of map tiling / paging tool. As much as BeamNG has changed from T3D, alot still seems similar which means it could probably be adapted. I havent even looked at it but would be a fun thing to go blasting through Utahs tunnels and turn up in say Italy, could give some really fun car chases. https://github.com/ChrisCalef/T3DTerrainMaster
Yeah, a rotary minitruck would be super cool and could lead to official air suspension as well, and i think we need a classic FR german grand tourer (944-928) or an old gas crisis moonhatch thing
I disagree. Hirochi already has the Flat engines. I don't want a brand to have both Flats and Doritos at the same time because that seems like that brand has no specific identity. Hirochi can be especially quirky with the Flat engines it already has, it just needs to go over that direction, as we've already said. Plus, this game follows real-life patterns by having brands that seem to have expertise in certain engine types and configurations: Cherrier has the I5, ETK has the I6s, Bruckell and Gavril have the big V8s, Ibishu has the I4s, Civetta generally makes high-revving V-engines, so it's natural that Hirochi can build its own brand identity by making use of its Flat engines. It's also natural that a brand having the Dorito passion identifying it can be created and offer us the unique Wankel experience. It's a matter of brand uniqueness.
Even so, I'm more inclined towards nsu type brand than a Japanese one But what i would like to see more is a prototype rotary in existing brands, as even Lada experienced with rotary in their cars It would appeal to more audience if the brand in question was japanese though, that's for sure
why not though? how about hirochi being the weird japanese brand with uncommon engines, like flats and rotaries, or weird amounts of pistons (i7, v9, etc)
Some 60s experimental prototypes like the Mercedes C111 cars, coming from the existing brands, would indeed make sense for showing that they eventually abandoned the Dorito concept in favor of the pistons. But a self-luminous brand would make more sense for mass Wankel production and it could also have at least a few vehicles based on this concept. A lineup consisting of a classic small Sedan, a classic small Coupe, a classic Sports Car, a classic Pick-Up Truck and a classic mid-engined Supercar like the XP-895 Aerovette plus some more modern cars with turbos and a Rotary race car. That's how brand identity is built! --- Post updated --- It already has Flats to be as unique as it wants, doesn't need Doritos to do exactly the same thing. No car brand ever had Flats and Doritos at the same time. And what's the problem with having a specific Wankel brand anyway? We want content expansion after all.
A: this is beamng, screw realism, why can't we have a dorito/flat brand ? B: the wankel specific brand is a good idea, but tbh it's not really worth it
A: Realism is exactly the point of BeamNG. B: Why isn't it worth it? Honestly, I totally can see a Wankel brand being created.
Yes afaik. They mysteriously launched bets pbr a few months before Beam BUT i think its stuck now. If im not mistaken theres Beam members involved in T3D but i could be wrong.
this is kinda off topic but, i think if the Devs ever make a modern day 200bx,it would be based mostly on the new nissan z,but then again thats my opinion so, i drew a example, it actually looks pretty fun!
TBH Driver 2 have bigger maps than Beam so current maps are really small. I don't mind having small, dedicated maps like Hirochi Raceway or Derby, but open maps should be bigger. I mean, BeamNG is best game for even just driving around and cruising yet we really can't do that because of that.
Last time the Z was compared to the SX (or the BX, for that matter) was when John Davis first tested the 240SX in 1989!
But we already know it's called the MR Turbo. A turbo V6 for rallying would be suicidal at best with the power it would make, and a rotary would be very cool, but also very unlikely.
I always thought of he 200bx as a sort of entry level performance thing like a 240sx To make the lore make more sense, I’d have the new Z be a Z-ish thing and add a S30Z ish thing from the 60s as a way to distinguish the base model performance model from the higher end. Maybe the 250p for the older one with a 2.5 liter i6 and 360p for the new one with a TT 3.6 liter v6. I feel like I had a seizure typing that so I’ll rephrase that later if I feel like it.
Exactly. A line of classic I6-powered Ibishu Sportscars would make perfect sense. After all, the I6 configuration was the go-to choice of the Japanese in the 60s/70s for Sportscars and the top-of-the-line versions of normal vehicles, so such an engine would also make sense for the Miramar. Plus, such an engine can build a newfound reputation for the Ibishu models because it can also be used for racing - in the Miramar and in the classic Ibishu Sportscars. Not to mention that it can also have variants with larger displacements for the export markets - say a 2.0 liter version for the Japanese market and 2.5, 2.8 and 3.0 versions for the export markets. In short, a great potential awaits! As for the present, a modern Ibishu Sportscar with a V6 (either NA or TT) makes absolute sense and I'd really like to see what it would look like!
