This map is extremly old, you won't fix this, this map released, probably, at time, when we have only 0.8 update. Just wait for remake, or edit your screens in photoshop.
Some, but not as much as I'd like. I don't often have much free time these days, and the allure of newer projects has always been a problem for my ADD-riddled ass. I should clarify that I don't plan to do much teasing. Hype breeds disappointment, so I've made a point of releasing my projects sleeper-style whenever possible. I'll be happy to answer a few questions, though.
Does it loop and have proper traffic paths? And maybe a slightly more detailed environment but that's all I care about
No, but yes. To make a physical loop would break the level design, as the film's freeway is built of mostly straight stretches, and to seamlessly conceal a 180-degree corner on a six-lane highway would require a massive radius. However, I've placed teleporters on both [nearly identical] ends of the freeway itself to create a more-or-less seamless transition that doesn't require the player to slow down, and doesn't betray the illusion that this is a long, straight road. It will, as this was one of the central reasons for remaking this map. I can't promise it'll be perfect, but even in its unfinished state, it's better than the current map. There will be more detail, visually and otherwise. More unique sections, more unique meshes, the new map will be terrain-based, so tire tracks and road surface variation will be present. Almost all of the original textures have been replaced, etc.
Are there any other smaller roads on the map now or just the highway? It's still fine if only highway but I was always wondering why there are no other roads
There are a few other roads in the map. Making the tunnels and city was always outside the scope of what I was trying to create in the original map, but as I don't plan to build this map a third time, I'm trying to capture pretty much everything seen in the film's chase sequence.
I may have good news or bad news, depending on what you are asking. Will the level look as empty as the old one did? No, there will be plenty of buildings, roads, level components to help the world feel more like a real, connected place. In the event you pull back the camera, pop up the map view, or pull a sick jump, there'll be plenty to see. However, the lion's share of this will be low-detail, collisionless background, and will not be accessible without the use of the free camera. A part of the reason for this is that I'm not looking to work on this project for 2+ more years, but I'd also like to keep the map focused around the iconic, titular freeway and not a 16 km2 urban/industrial map sprung up around it. As stated above, there will be a few roads and full-detail locations outside of the freeway (including access ramps), but they'll be deep in the minority.
Could someone fix the AI waypoints on this map? these do NOT work well. Examples of the waypoint errors The waypoints need to either be repositioned, in which case someone would have to add new waypoints to the road to make the lane system work correctly, or Completely remade. No idea how this worked with the traffic tool mod at all, the waypoint positioning just seems too unusable for the AI for it to have worked ever. And there's your answer, the reason the AI goes both ways is that this map has waypoints, not decal road paths. The speed limit seems to not actually be 65 mph either, cops will stop you for driving lower than the supposed speed limit. AI pathing's a big mesh.
