This is a thread for a map project I have been on/off making since the start of the year 2022. My first map project that has really worked out as well. I've had couple of these before but always some issues dragged them down. This one however has lead me down a relatively issue-free path. Not yet started making: RED Started making: ORANGE Good progress made: Yellow Finishing touches anymore: DARK GREEN Finished making: GREEN Plans: Small town Farm Racetrack Highway Dirt roads Mud park Derby track Asphalt roads I'll have to see if i come up with a better "progress indicator" but this will have to do now. Some things like dirt roads and asphalt roads will obviously stay unfinished for a while because i haven't touched half the maps terrain yet. Next some pics of the progress so far. The Derby track Highway so far Also a ski resort that's pretty much finished A racetrack. Yes, i know. Finland doesn't have many tracks like this where there is even a sophisticated drag strip but instead we use small airports for drag racing, but for me a good racetrack was a must have. Finally (for now), a shot from a corner of the map. REMEMBER WORK IS STILL IN PROGRESS ON ALL AREAS! FOR EXAMPLE I HAVEN'T MADE ROAD MARKINGS EVERYWHERE YET Feel free to ask and suggest ideas! I'll try to respond to as many as i can. I also made a reddit post https://www.reddit.com/r/BeamNG/comments/tox7lg/wip_finland_map_4km_x_4km_size/ which got me to even making this thread and check it out for ideas that might have already been said.
Also, i will not be able to do the map every other week because I'm at my moms place and the map project is at my dads place. It's actually good because I have a week of reflecting on the project and thinking if some part needs to be changed.
Nice work so far! 4 km by 4 km is quite ambitious, but it will surely be endless fun if there are a lot of great roads to drive on.
THE PROGRESS COLORS ARE NO LONGER TRUE (this is because even if i tried to edit the post but it wouldn't let me) The map project is not dead, maybe a little bit slower pace but not dead. Only the forum thread has been. I have made some progress. I started the mud park and made some improvements overall and also new roads. I'm not going to put a screenshot here because the changes aren't that huge. See ya when i remember to post again.
I messed up with some file stuff and progress went back many months. I should have known better but some of the stuff is now gone including the ski resort, mud park, derby track, lots of roads, etc. That made motivation for this map project pretty low. I will likely be starting a new Finland map project soon and I'll link the forum (if i make one) here. For now this is it for this map.
I really must say that with BeamNG you should do a zip of your project every working day and copy it somewhere. Or make a local git repository. I learned it the hard way too. Sorry for your loss, Peruna!
Is this still going to be made? please I think its cool or even an early release to see what it is like so far please
