I'm looking to upgrade from 3600 Ryzen, to either 5900x or 5800x3d. Which one would be better for BeamNG.drive, is cache improvement noticable in beamng or its better to go for more cores? Thanks in advance.
It depends on your budget, if you have a big budget go for the 5900x, if you have a smaller budget go for the 5800x3D, but if it was up to me, I would go for the 5900x
Actually 5900x is cheaper here where I live, im just interested which one brings more performance and is suitable better for BeamNG. Thanks for reply.
The 5900X will be better suited for BeamNG as BeamNG uses a lot of cores and, while it appreciates higher single core speeds, you'll theoretically be able to run 8 extra cars with the Ryzen 9 compared to the 7 at a consistent FPS, assuming you're GPU can handle the extra load.
GPU.. isn't that just graphics? surely any half decent graphics card can do the job if he has a ryzen 9
24 Cars is not easy to run, as that is what the Ryzen 9 would theoretically be able to handle at a stable FPS. My GTX 960 would not be able to handle that. Not sure whether a GTX 960 is still considered half decent, but it couldn't do it.
I saw a dumptruck dev video where he was running into like 40 cars. Wonder what sorcery cpu core hacks they're running.
I have a ryzen 9 5900x and a radeon 6800xt. 24 cars is basically impossible. Once it’s over 12 or so it starts to drop off
I mean more core = better so the only limit here is money, you're missing out just like you're missing out on RTX if you don't have a 3090.
I'm more interested in running more cars in like a derby style figure 8 race than flashy RTX but I see your point. Money fixes most problems lol
Benchmark starts at 2:38 In beamng specifically it’s most likely not as golden as Linus shows, it’s limited by core count.
