Greetings adventurers! Do not adjust your television, the title is as it seems.

This is a thread dedicated to those who work hard making free high quality mods for us, the community. These few individuals work tirelessly day and night sharing their passion with other users. Some users who immediately come to my mind would be @LucasBE for the 1994 ETK K-Series and @Nekkit for the AW Astro, among other users. Without you, users like me would quickly run out of content in-game to consume. If only I had the patience to contribute.

BeamNG has an official content creator program in which The Devs and media creators join hand-in-hand to create high quality video and/or written content for the community and beyond to enjoy. I feel there should be a program modders could take advantage of to get their content in-game at an official level.

Consider this my petition to create an official program in which modders can submit content for approval and addition to the game.

Benefits? There are a few I can think of:

    1. This gives modders the highest recognition and gratitude of the land in terms of this game.

    2. This bolsters in-game content to a higher degree quicker, giving players more to do, thus increasing community morale.

    3. This distributes development load between The Devs and the community, therefore potentially increasing update frequency.

    4. This will drive forum users who want to become modders to take the dive.

    5. In theory this may or may not increase overall quality of available modded content.

This next paragraph targets The Devs:

Ladies and Gentlemen, I have followed development of this game from basically day one (just look at how old my account is). I want to help you guys with in-game content, and I feel this is a step in the right direction. The community wants to help you. Hear this plea from us to you to make this happen. In the long run, I see this as beneficial to everyone.

This next paragraph re-targets the community:

Community, if you or someone you know has suggestions to modded content you'd like to see converted to official content, please voice your opinion. This thread is a safe place to do so. There will be no off-topic discussion and no arguing. This is for your own good.

I thank everyone for their time in reading this.

Good idea but there would only be like 2 or 3 cars considered good enough to be made official, and only scratch made content would count, also it needs to add variety to the game, and also Lucas's K-series could prove to be problematic due to being a convertible

Official Content in terms of being part of the base game or just being endorsed by the devs? I wouldn't really want the former since the update cycle would in parts become dependent on the modders, the latter already exists more or less with "Staff Pick"

I think mods should be mods, and dev content should be dev content.
    Let's not mix the two.

If anything imagine lucasbe was integrated in the dev team; the mod should be reviewed by members of the team and improved where it can, as muc has needed to make it dev quality.

I think a drivetrain overhaul is coming already but, transmission shift logic mod from @default0.0player makes driving automatics a whole lot better than base game. I honestly would like it replacing the game's default transmissions if the overhaul isn't going to be at least on par with it.

This is exactly what I'm talking about. The idea here is it's an optional program anyone can take part in to have content reviewed for potential inclusion.

no offense, but this sounds like a nightmare for the game and for the company itself. the company would need to pay the person who made the mod in order to officially implement it. plus, the fact that there are very few mods that are close to or of dev-quality means that if any other mods were accepted the quality of the content included in the vanilla game would go down. at the same time, why not hire the maker of the mod? it’s happened with a few people, angelo234 is a recent example.

One problem I can think of is that modders would be forced to keep their cars up to date as long as BeamNG continues to get updated, so if they ever want to stop modding or such, they can't; But the devs couldn't remove the car, because then people would be upset. So they'd have a rock in a hard place there

I immediately had to think of a vehicle when it comes to implementing a mod in the official game. If I'm honest, after all this time the quality of this mod is unmatched. No mod on this scale has ever left such a coherent picture and the typical vanilla feeling as this vehicle.

If any mod deserves to be called vanilla, this is it. I can only guess why the creator stopped the support and what the background is, the fact is the mod is and remains an unrivaled benchmark.

The creator got hired by BeamNG to work on vehicles - and no, it was close but not quite vanilla quality as a result of minor visual flaws

I agree, a few things weren't 100% dev level. In my first post, I took into account the age and level of other mods at the time. As far as I can remember, no mod has made such a big step in terms of quality, overall impression, handling, engines, etc. since then. After that there were certainly mods that made some things even better in terms of quality, but I didn't think there were any quality increases like this mod presented afterwards. The way it complements the vanilla content is unmatched to this day for me, but there are certainly players who see things differently, which is okay. What makes me happy is that the creator is integrated into the team of developers. Absolutely deserved.

He was no exception. He was hired too. He is still in the credits for the game under "Former Team Members". I think he quit many years ago. As for WBIMP, I am not aware of any content from that being added to the game.

not to be rude, but a drag config isn't really something that was implemented from a mod. most default vehicles that have had content updates or a remaster have some sort of drag config.

It's only inspired by it, not straight up ported

While its was only "inspired" it did have almost the exact same parts.
