Not sure if anyone has mentioned it yet, but tdev confirmed that some version of career mode will be released in 0.26.
it's in 0.27 man, tdev said "the update after the next one" not "the update after this one" as he said for tire thermals
This is what we gathered from what tdev said, And by the wording he used, I really think it's 0.27, not 0.26, 0.26 is coming in 3-4 months (possibly) 0.27 would be at least 6 months down the line, and that's more realistic for a Career update, having tire thermals and career mode in 1 update would break the whole community and surely would be a development hell
I don't see how they would conflict with one another, is it because they're both highly requested features?
They wouldn't conflict, but they're highly requested features and are features that would probably have lots of adjustments, having both of them in a update would be an issue talking on development side of things. Also, would raise the hype too much for the other updates, having 2 major features that were requested for a long time is HUGE for the community
I Really don't think it was ambiguous tho, For features that might be in 0.26 he said "update after this one" For things further down the road he said "update after the next one" there's no mistery, no speculation
Four people bothered to click the agree button when I said that the next update is this update, so I think there's some ambiguity. --- Post updated ---
How could you raise too much hype? Hype doesn't mean broken expectations, or people rampaging the forums, it just means people are excited for the update and the features it brings to the game. Not sure what would be bad about that. I don't see any adjustments in career mode that would effect single player, since it doesn't inherently require changes to the physics or gameplay save for the career mode itself, so I'm not sure why this would be an issue?
I think I expressed myself wrong here, what I tried to say is that having 2 HUGE things (actually 3 if you count scratches and dirt accumulation) in only one update would take away a little of the glory of the future ones, would be great to have everything in 1 update? Yes, but see how much tdev confirmed already, having all of these things in one update would be insane to debug all of the combinations, and in my point of view, makes more sense to release the career preview on 0.27, as they'll have more time to work the tire thermal and dirt accumulation for the career and not have to rush things as much
I'm interested what we can expect from tire thermals. Obviously, it's not just about the surface temperature of the tires but how the temperature acts on the tire pressures. Will be there tire wear? Will be possible to choose old/new tires from the parts list? Will camber affect the inner/outer edge of the tire ? Will long burnouts, drifting or high stress driving cause tire explosions?
Probably yes to most of these, except old and new tires would make the tire selector cluttered, better a tuning slider for tire wear like there is for brake force
I imagine they'll only commit to releasing both at once if they're confident that the two are both ready for the masses, even if they're not finished. It is also a good idea to get feedback from the community on such huge improvements and changes, so I imagine that's at least part of their reasoning for it. It's also a good idea to release features for both career and non career players, that way there's still content for people who don't care about the career more to enjoy.
The turning slider (a la DTM, with its trademarked circular knob for the TC) will also be good for when carbon ceramic brakes get implemented, because we will actually be able to find their bite point while adjusting the force. Carbon ceramics are known for this because they usually don't respond to the light depress on the pedal.
I read this in a hurry, so I skipped the "i dont know wen we" and I read it as "we get the update yeah" For a sec I thought the update released, lol
