I've seen a video on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vprCKjE6txg which tries to explain how to set up any controller but it's pretty vague. I was wondering if anyone could help me set up my ps3 controller. Thanks in advance.

The PS3 controller isnt supported by windows so this video is actually completely irrelevant. This video assumes the controller is registering a GUID with windows, which the PS3 controller does not, you need to install PC drivers for the PS3 controller first, sadly almost all tutorials on how to do that recommend MotionInJoy which is malware. There is SCP though: http://emulation-general.wikia.com/wiki/SCP_Driver_Package Once you have SCP working you wont need to do anything input mapping wise as SCP identifies itself as an official xbox 360 controller.

Better solution though is to buy a wired xbox 360 controller for PC gaming rather than relying on 3rd party tools to get a controller never intended to work with PC to work with PC.

SCP works fine for me as well. Plus the PS3 controller is better than the 360 so it's a win win.

Thank god we are not recommending motioninjoy. Horrible horrible program

Never liked the playstation controllers. I genuinely prefer the offset thumbsticks that the gamecube had back in my youth and later featured on the xbox. I think it was from playing alot of platforming games etc rather than shooters when I was young, you would predominantly use an analogue thumbstick with one hand and buttons with the other, the natural resting point for my thumbs was always higher up the controller so it makes most sense that under the left thumb should be the thumbstick with the lesser used buttons moved to the lower location and under the right thumb should be the buttons with the thumbstick moved to the lesser used lower location. That is what I am used to and that is what I prefer to this day even if I have adopted a strange grip using my right index finger to operate the buttons, middle finger for shoulder bumper and ring finger for trigger in certain games. This then becomes an issue on the sony controllers again which just don't balance in the hand as nicely as the xbox ones do to me these days, they aren't shaped as ergonomically and seem too small for my hands (and I am not some dude with freakishly big hands).
The sony controllers are better quality than either the old gamecube or xbox 360 controllers though. The gamecube ones were rattly with crap buttons and crap thumbsticks. The xbox ones have a decent set of buttons and triggers and a solid frame but the thumbsticks are still a bit shitty with poor return to centre and quite easily wearing.

    I have decoded your message.

Gaiz, use SCP 914, set it to fine and shove your ps3 controller into it. Things will go swimmingly.

If you can get it (I think the original site went down) DS3 Tool works great for me. Plug it in, run DS3, select X360 Emulator, beam works just fine with it. :p

That program contains malware, that's why I switched to SCP.

Is there a way to config my ps3 controller manually? Like setting the responsiveness?

I suggest you to use ds3 tool... It works perfectly and turns your Ps3 controller into a Xbox 360 Controller!! Pretty awesome
Unfortunately it works only connected to internet :(

Do not use ds3 tool. The reason it requires and internet connection is because ds3 tools is just a new GUI for MotionInJoy which is a malware application. Under no circumstances should you use MotionInJoy or by extension DS3 tool.

This is currently the only non malicious PS3 driver: http://emulation-general.wikia.com/wiki/SCP_Driver_Package
