there have been several strange things happening recently. the moderators, especially leeloo, have not been active as much as they used to. the updates on the branches, namely qa_latest, have become noticeably slower in being released. the build on the creator_program branch is way older than the one on the public branch. i just find all of this out of character. i think something big (be it good or bad) is happening at the company.
i still like to firmly believe it was because of my no teaser march joke but im sure they just have some sort of kink with the new vehicle they need to work out although im wondering why they wouldnt simply tell us if there was some sort of development issue...
To be honest, it seems very unlikely for me that we get the update in the next 14 days even. Why? Well, we got a small update a week ago and if the update would be near, they would have included these fixes in the next bigger update I suppose. I hope I am wrong though.
What are the chances of career mode this update? It seems unlikely, but all the groundwork for it seems to be in game and it's also something I imagine they'd want to keep as a surprise.
It wasn't a small update, it was a hotfix, which I wouldn't count as a reason to postpone a major update.
There is a fair bit of groundwork to do. We don't have an economy in game, just got the UI and walk mode both (neither of which has had significant attention since release), AI still isn't great to race against, we have no idea on the status of the garage mode, etc...
Because they have been working on old maps lately and had to get around to it eventually... The game is still in alpha, one could argue that nearly every update since 2014 has been in anticipation of career mode. That doesn't mean it's coming in the immediate future. People have been saying "maybe it'll come next update" for every update this game gets.
i doubt we are much closer to the realization of career mode than in the early 2015 days, in the years since inception, im certain the career mode has gone through hundreds of changes as video game career modes have evolved over time and trends changed, to put it into perspective, when they started beamng, GTA IV was still one of the most popular online games out there and Fast and Furious 6 was in theaters. to imagine the campaign idea has not changed since then is crazy. the issue mentioned above is likely going to be the defining factor in campaign delays, as if you have ever tried to write a story, then waited a little bit, got another idea, and tried to add it in, you will know. the longer it takes for the basic shell of the campaign to be formed, the more ideas they will get and things they will want to change, if these changes begin to overwhelm the campaign, it could turn into a spiral of messy half baked ideas. in my opinion, im almost certain they havent touched the plot of the campaign at all, they got all of their ideas out in the missions tab, putting all of their narrative ideas there instead of trying to force them to fit into the campaign. --- Post updated --- here is something weird i was bored and check what FluffyPanda was doing, and they where just watching this old thread without a reply in 2 years https://www.beamng.com/threads/serzari-world-records-and-racing-video-gallery.65881/ possible hint?
Maybe they were working on the Garage To Garage Delivery scenario and were planning to make it for all maps, and not just Italy
saying dealers is a sign of campaign mode is like saying that the track builder is a sign that the game takes places in cyberpunk 2077
How they didn't touch the career ? They have released missions and map, which I'm certain that is one of the parts of the career that is being currently tested. Honestly, I don't see there is that much missing for the career. Maybe races with more competitive racing AI as missions? Game economy ? Finished garage?
there are plenty of missions, definitely, there is simply just no way of tying them together at the moment, alot of the campaigns and missions just would need alot of work in order to make them blend into one cohesive career, in my eyes those are basically concepts of a career mode, which we would give feedback onto dictate how the career might actually work
