update: -correctly sperated all parts of the engine -uv unwrapped engine into one uv -baked all engine materials (about 30 of them) to one material -adjusted positioning of all engine parts to fit correctly into the engine bay -imported engine bay model+textures into beam
Yes I'm pretty sure I will: I'm hoping to have a drift missile config, a normal beater config and a mildly used config
yeah, thats actually a jbeam issue, the door jbeam is clipping slightly into the unibody jbeam. I just haven't gotten to fixing it yet
Im so excited for this mod, maybe once the mod is released you can work on some aftermarket body kits, like the vertex kit
yeah, aftermarket parts will be a lot of fun and i’m definitely looking forward to making some. The mod will hopefully be released with a large quantity of aftermarket parts already integrated. --- Post updated --- update: -properly integrated engine 3d models into the game (added all models to the correct flexbodies and slots) -adjusted engine jbeam positions and weights -started adjusting engine torque curves to be accurate to the real car -adjusted stage 1 turbo to match the psi and hp output of the stock spec-R turbo. the stage 1 will later be renamed to specR-turbo -adjusted body node weights to give a center of gravity more accurate to the real car (wip, still a lot to be done in handling department) -added license plates -updated forum page to look better and have a few nicer pictures -lowered poly count of front fender without losing too much detail -improved control loops around the rear panels and at the c-pillar no pictures today since it’s mostly jbeam stuff (other then the updated ones on the front page that came a few days ago)
If you make engines like the SR20 which is stock, 2jz, rb26 etc will they have the real engine sounds or just the ordinary beamng drive sound?
I have no idea how sounds in beam work yet so I can’t say for certain. if I manage to add custom sounds to my engine(s) and they sound accurate then i’ll keep em but if the custom engine sounds sound bad then i’ll stick with a beamng sound.
That’d be sick, I think I should be able to get the torque curves worked out quite quickly since I can just look at irl s15 torque curves, but some help with sounds would be really helpful. It’ll still be a bit until I start working on the engine sounds but I’ll contact you via conversations when I do. Btw I’m using this site for torque curves, it seems to have hundreds of different numbers and specs on all s15 variants so it’s definitely gonna come in handy: https://www.automobile-catalog.com/curve/2002/2180780/nissan_silvia_spec-r_aero_6-speed.html
This link contains a sound of the nissan sr20 engine. You can use this if you want. This video is from 9kRPM btw.
update: -updated torque curves (almost final now for non-turbo sr20) -continued work on weight distribution (basically perfect 50/50 now, should be more like 49/51 so i kinda over compensated) -removed stress in frontal area caused by front fenders -updated shaping of front bumper, fenders, hood and unibody -modelled taillights -added some early taillight textures (still not happy with them) -added taillights ingame -adjusted proportions of the roof and pillars to be more accurate -added early emission textures for headlights
update: -adjusted proportions of the car to be more accurate (theyre finally getting somewhere now) -fit interior/dash into unibody (it used to be a seperate model) -uv unwrapped and marked seams for dash -baked all textures of dash into one -realised that baking everything into one texture made all my procedural texture work useless because of resolution before (nice and crisp realistic leather): after (basically just noise): -did a bunch of reasearch on the s15 and found a bunch of useful/interesting stuff. the most noteworthy being a scan of an s15 dealer brochure from the 90s: https://www.nicoclub.com/archives/s15-silvia-original-dealer-brochure-japan.html this thing has some really useful stuff like: official torque curve numbers for basically all configs, official blueprints with interior and exterior dimentions (which means 100% accurate proportions), info on (almost) all variants of the s15, all wheel options and more
