Right, I think it’s time for another update. Where were we? Oh damn I didn’t realise I hadn’t even told you guys about the offroad bumper. Let’s get on with this. I’ve already shown you guys the process for these bumpers, so I’ll kinda skip over some bits, but I won’t miss it out completely of course. So, I started with the design and put it into blender, then traced it with edges to get the rough shape visible. …then I filled in some faces and added some depth… …then grille mesh in the middle. Once the main bumper was done, I started the much more integral fogs/parking lights. The reason these aren’t there on any of the other bumpers is because they weren’t necessary to the design, but they’re coming at some point. …then I merged them into the bumper. …and added grille mesh to the sides too. Because you’ve seen this already too, here’s the finished undertray. It’s been raised to match the rest of the bumper and for ground clearance and approach angle. (top is offroad, bottom is standard (lux and sport)) …and finally, in game. With all three separate versions together. (My GPU broke so sorry for the bad graphics quality. I’m back to my laptop’s performance at the moment lol) Next up, the roof. The roof now has two other options to it, being a sunroof and a panoramic sunroof. One of which has two separate panels of glass, and it’s gonna have one section openable at some point. (the panoroof breaks in two sections, too.) Here’s what each separate variant will get; After that, I added a few small but significant details, including the antenna fin, front and rear wipers and some shaping to the chrome window trim. Finally, after a long wait, I’ve added badges! There’s a lot of them right now, with some being optional extras, and one or two not being on the car yet. Here’s how they look courtesy of @Theo Wilkinson with some nice motion blur. …and how they look on a render from blender… (loads of thanks to @Nekkit for helping me get all that set up, I didn’t even know you could do half the stuff in that render) I think that’s where we’re at today! I’ve attached some extra renders from blender of the various trim levels (one of which before I’d managed to make the badges transparent) but other than that that’s you guys updated. Thanks for reading and have a great rest of your week! Next update on post #623
car is looking great but think the full face DLR needs to go. to big and ruins the style in my opinion. maybe just have DLRs on the head light units. keep up the great work!
Yeah, I agree. I think having it as a option would be neat tho, but I think it would look better without it.
i understand that and i think if it was maybe a little thinner like the Mercedes EQC for example then i would like it more but at the moment it is too T H I C C --- Post updated --- just to add to what i was saying, i just noticed a good line that the DLR could possible go on. the led on the headlight and a grill piece almost line up together. maybe altering that grill piece to line up with the led?
It mig It might just be the flat look of it but he said it’s gonna have cut lines for each part of the light and it’s gonna have a texture look of the Hyundai Ioniq 5
yeah, i agree with your opinion maybe if the DRL is similar to the hyundai staria it will be a little better
its based on a toyota and its scratch built to his likings. you suggesting it having some new design inspo from a korean car because you dont like it makes it pointless for finn to change it when everyone else likes the design that finn worked so hard on
but toyota doesn't have that big DRL like the one on proycon centauri, and I'm just giving my opinion why do you even talk to me with a rather fierce impression
You are of course free to give your opinion, but let me remind that: Procyon Centauri is not the copy-paste of Land Cruiser, rather it is influenced and based on it, thus "If Toyota does not have X, neither should Procyon" logic does not apply if the mod author is more than comfortable with the current design, then there is no reason to change it It's a design language for the Procyon, which I should say, is very creative as I cannot recall any modern real-life brand that has exact language
honestly im just confused on what the DRL will do. will one half flash to act as a blinker or something? or is it just a glowy thing?
Just been looking through these posts, and it seems that some of you are a little confused as to the point of the mod/why the DRL is so large. The point of the mod is to be a Luxury SUV in the price range of £80,000 to £130,000, not a direct copy of the Land Cruiser. It’s heavily inspired by it, yeah, but it’s got loads of design traits from other cars and thought from myself. The front DRL isn’t gonna stay as a solid block of light, it’s the best I could do without custom textures, and it’s not going either. As @LucasBE said, it’s brand identity, and it wouldn’t be exclusive to the Centauri so removing it wouldn’t make any sense on the flagship car. The overall design of the car’s gonna look a lot cleaner and less full-on when I get round to making my own textures.
