I agree it would change the community but you already pay for the game I don't think it's fair to then charge people more because they're not DLC's that come directly from the game producers
So you're saying it's not greedy that you demand us to make sacrifices?? Modders spend months making something for free all we're asking is a single dollar each at most from people, if you commissioned a mod at minimum hourly wage it would be costing you thousands
And then if there were no mods because of that you'd complain. If there was a dislike button you'd be disliked to hell.
Single question for anyone not wanting paid mods to happen: Would you willingly spend months of your time working on a product to hand it out to people for free? Paid mods being a thing on the repo would only be better for this community. It means you guys would get more quality mods more often, it would make modding more accessible, and it would bring more modders to the community too because they'd see an opportunity in making mods. Most of us wouldn't say no if we were asked if we want to make a living out of something we love doing.
Other people have proposed like $1 per mod before, which seems like a fair price to me, if a few thousand people will download the mod then the author will ultimately regain the equivalent of his work in money, and then more than that. Of course depends on how much effort was put into the mod, more detailed ones would be more expensive.
For a full car mod? 5-10 bucks seems reasonable and affordable for the most people. For a smaller content pack? Id say 1-2 bucks would be a fair price. As for the maps, ugh it really depends on the map. Edit: As long as it is something you have made, not a meshslap or smth
there has never, ever, in any community, in history, where paid mods have gone over well. the only continually functional community where paid mods have historically been SOMETHING of a norm, that I can name, is flight sim - but I wouldn't exactly call that community healthy! profit-based modding is a path that inevitably corrupts. mods SHOULD be done as a hobby, for fun. licenses should always be open so that someone else can take up the mantle when modders move on. egotistical people that DEMAND money for their work and DEMAND exclusive rights to their *additions to someone else's game* should be avoided at all costs. thank you for doing your part in cultivating the pure expression required for a cultural shift to fully automated luxury communism.
From the Game's EULA that you agreed to: 10.3 The user should not setup special usage terms or license fees if the User Generated Content is distributed or advertised within the beamng.com website and services of BeamNG.
I didn't think about the open license thing, taking assets from other mods with permission would be made A LOT more complicated if mods were paid
Hmm interesting, if you got banned 5 times before in different communities, then haven't you thought that maybe you are doing something wrong?
maybe? would a simple email asking for reuse of said mod not be enough? The things you'd have to ask is how much you can charge, permission to make it free and making fixes of said mod.
Go tell that to literally anyone that sells anything then, I'd like to see you enter your local bakery and yell that. Sounds like something a Karen would say.
