All the tutorials use older versions of both the world editor, and older versions of blender, including older versions of the games file structure. I'm digging for information, but there is so much older content, it's just confusing on a starting point. :/
Basically you need to look for help on some dedicated Discord servers instead of the forums. The docs are slowly being updated but that's a really long process.
All of them! I want to create so many things, but it's this abstract patchwork of broken tutorials from a variety of different authors and viewpoints that results in mass confusion. As beginner, a lot of this tutorials assume a basic level of understanding, but the basic levels have changed. The folder structures and locations, the script structure and their values. ETC. Those who got in early, and understood the basics before things were changed seem to have adapted easily, but some of us coming in late, especially without specific computer science or graphic design backgrounds are left with this invisible hurdle of getting started. Making tutorials is just as hard as doing the task they're teaching. So I understand it's not an easy ask to request better documentation and instruction. However, the official tutorials are quite poor; here's a great example: That's not even a tutorial! lol It's just a coles-notes of the features of the program. Regardless, what I'm saying, is I'm really excited to express how much I enjoy BeamNG! I am working towards contributing as best as I can, and some of these learning hurdles would be smaller with some more clear guidance. <3
This seems to be exactly what I'm talking about. Those who have been at it longer, are having trouble relating to those just starting. Hmmm, how would a beginner know that? For example. This was the work-flow I just went through when trying to solve my problem 1. There is only a wiki button at the top. 2. It leads to a page that says "Documentation" (Wiki = Documentation) 3. Map Creation megapage is a very logical place to be going to next. 4. I'm having difficulties in the world editor, so I'll check the....map editor? 5. It tells me almost nothing and I'm frustrated. This is just one example of the confusing entrance to BeamNG modding for the first time. <3
That's still on the wiki, you are on the completely wrong website. I have no idea why it is still linked on top of menu when it has been outdated literally for years.
When they press the button on the Xenforo admin panel to save all css modifications. From what I can tell, the front page is still based on Xenforo, so I would assume they would still use it. Gonna miss the old forum layout though, I have so many good memories here!
