Hi guys, Sorry for the lack of updates, I was feeling a little sick (fine right now) so progress was slow, and besides I wanted to make one bigger update instead of 10 small ones. So, ingame-wise: the car is now colorable. I'll be using placeholder textures and materials from the 200BX until I make my own textures. Here's some recreations of previous screentshots, this time without the classic "NO TEXTURE" Model-wise: I have fully remodeled both front and rear suspensions for the 4th time, with more attention to detail and more resemblance to the real Colt. Here's a comparison between the old and new design: Left is old, right is new: The old front subframe was based on a Pessima suspension, as it was using it's jbeams. The new front subframe is based on the real Colt's (although on the Z30 one, not the CJ0 one), while still keeping the "based on" part and not "exact 1:1 replica" part. It's also more complex and generally more flowy. Here's a top shot of it compared to the real thing: The rear suspension hasn't changed much, generally getting more detailed models. The upper control arm has moved to the front of the strut, while the strut itself has been slightly tweaked and tilted. I've tried making it a 4-link setup instead of a 3-link, but as cool as it looked, it didn't really work in Beam. I have also started to make the interior. Originally I was planning to reuse the 200BX one, because it was so similar, but I ended up going for a self-made design. Again, this isn't meant to be 1:1 accurate (totally not an excuse to my lack of perspective modelling experience), but I'll try to keep things as close to real life as I can. Apart from that, some parts of the body have been tweaked, mainly the door jambs and seals. For now I think that's all, I'll try to post an update every day or every 2 days, but sometimes a bigger break like this one might take place. So lads, see you tomorrow (hopefully)!
Hi again, As I expected, yesterday there wasn't enought new stuff to update you guys about, but now I think I can show you the progress. So first: the new front subframe is in-game using Sunburst subframe jbeam, as it fits the car nicely: Along with the subframe brace, which is now jbeamed: I have also decided that apart from a bodykit, this car also needs fender flares, so that's what I added. I have also split the quarter panels from the body, so that the fender flares don't clip into the bodykit: And with that I have changed the planned Race and Rally configs: As you probably saw in the pics above, license plates are now in, with custom placement on rally and race bumpers: I have also added a smaller spoiler for the mid-trim variants: And a custom rear bumper to finish the bodykit: And for now that's all, tomorrow I will post an update on the interior, so until then, see ya guys, and enjoy!
Hello again! As I promised yesterday, here's an interior update to end this year. So, in typical me fashion, I have remade the dashboard again, because I seem to not be able to sit on one design for more than 5.1275 days. I'll still be using some of the previous models, like the shifter and parking brake lever. This time I included a small roof-like extension above the gauge cluster (which for now you have to imagine). I have also made proper glovebox hatch, as well as another glovebox in the place of the passenger airbag for low-trim models: The shading in some parts, like near the opening handle is a little off, but I'll fix that later. Here's what it looks like from the driver's perspective: In reality, the FOV should be a little higher, but I couldn't get higher numbers working using the Blender camera without everything warping. And speaking of reality, the dash is in game now, using the same material as the rest of the car because i'm too lazy to add another one: I didn't use the screenshot from the real driver's POV, as the shiny paint gave bad reflections. Now that I think of it, I could've changed the paint to be black and matte too look good. Oh well, too lazy to fix that. Anyway, that's all for the interior update to close off 2021. Personally this year has been huge for me when it comes to modding. I've learnt a lot about jbeams from my cancelled Fiat 133 mod, and a lot about models from another mod I was working on. This time I actually know what I'm doing lol, so I think (or atleast hope) this little Mitsubishi will turn out good. For my new year's resolution, I think I choose to turn this car into something you guys can enjoy too, a.k.a. a finished mod, and not leave it on the pile of other cars that I cancelled. Anyhow, I wish you all a happy new year, and see you in 2022!
