This is my super simple way of adding PBR materials to any existing car or your custom part. In this tutorial you will not be creating any materials, but using existing materials from the game. If you are adding PBR to a existing car, make sure the mod is unpacked, which makes it way easier. Tools you will need: - Blender ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Step 1: Finding The Materials The most useful material is "pickup" which can be found in your game files in vehicles > common.zip > vehicles > common > pickup, called pickup_d.dds. Find out how to go to the game files here. Pickup is a useful material because it is in common, so any vehicle and mod in the game can use it. It also has 3 useful colours: paint colour, chrome and black. Now with your material, you need to convert it to the png format so it can be opened in blender. You can use apps like paint.net or what I use, bootleg photoshop. Now you can put this somewhere that is easily accessible. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Step 2: Mapping your model to the material First make sure you are in face select mode: Now, select all the pieces of your model that you want to have the material. Normally this can be done by pressing "select" on the existing material or pressing L with your mouse curser on the model. Make sure you are in edit mode by pressing tab. Now rename (double click) your material or add a new material called "pickup" (or whatever material you use) and press assign. Now, go into the UV Editing tab. Your UV might look like a mess but that is fine. If your UV isnt there, make sure to press "unwrap" Now open your material by pressing open. Now it should look like this. The 3 useful colours are here at the bottom right. This is body colour This is black This is chrome Now you can press A and S to shrink everything down and place it in the colour you want. Now im going to select the pieces I want to be black And move that UV to the black Now export your model and you should be done. I hope you found this tutorial helpful, you can ask for help by replying to this thread. Let me know if i forgor anything. I got all the way here and for some reason I couldn't get any of the materials to transfer over. Also sorry for the bump in advance.
So, I am a professional idiot and can't use blender worth a crap and I have no idea on how to actually apply the pickup materials to the model. Can you make a video or something because I am definitely doing something wrong.
