I am still waiting for the Humble Bundle release of the update but that doesn't matter. Back in '19 I rediscovered BeamNG after I saw early footage around '12/'13 (and tried the tech demo but knew I had to wait a little longer) and I immediately bought the game. This game was and still remains the answer of all my vehicle simulation needs, personal modding included of course. I started playing car games as a kid in the mid 80's and spend a lot of money and time on countless franchises time and again hoping they would release that open door to reality and modding but they never, and I repeat, never did ! Just like Microsoft Flight Simulator for years I hoped something similar for ground vehicles would appear, but no, Forza, great eye candy, somewhat realistic but kept in a commercial cage ($$$) along with the others..

Concerning 'user friendly simulation' (and I mean having the freedom to mod a highly realistic simulator and being able to communicate with it's developers) there's nothing like BeamNG and for me there won't be ever !
Thank you devs for this !

This was so enjoyable to read, when devs open up and talk to the comminity it's the best.
One thing is sitting there, refreshing the page couple times a day waiting for a new update, finally getting it and starting to toy around with the new stuff but other when you know how much sweat and tears went to make these things and then you uppreciate them even more.
My dream is more posts like this after every major update from now on saying what went wrong, what could be improved, what didn't make it in and feature plans kinda like ETS 2 with their dev blog posts.

I have nothing but respect for the devs who continue to show the utmost professionalism while getting flamed by children on this forum every time they release an update. I've seen promising mods get cancelled entirely over much less than the abuse that gets hurled here on a regular basis. Keep calm and report bugs

The main two issues for me at the moment: loading default vehicles doesn't work, nor do the "hide in cockpit" checkboxes for UI applets.

Some unpleasant notes. It was long time update... The "amazing community" was waiting this update with patience. You promised big improvements and big steps up for more developing time. OK. It's good. More time passed... No any progress was published, seldom notes about team still alive. It was bullying to community. Instead of honest talking to gamers about update problems and calling real terms of release you were hided from us and overhyped all of us all time around. It was silly. Because after all promises of strict attention to aviod bugs and issues (for time cost) you have made the most bugged update ever (for last 2 years at least). And this release far away from great one (what was hyped too much).

For specific symbols in user folder, just funny - that problem was in previous updates too. You was should made your attention to what more in past.

I wish only very good days for BeamNG team, but... have to be honest. Sorry, if I've wrote something wrong.

I don't want to start an argument, but I'm pretty sure the community is the reason the update was rushed. In the Update Speculation thread there were dozens of people asking for more info and more teasers, what's the fun in the update if the devs tell you everything that's gonna be in it? They had already teased the Bastion, then they made a video on the H-Series, and then they showed the race Pessima, that was enough if you ask me

They hyped the update. They are the ones who didn't calm our expectations or tell us what was going on. If they did, we'd all understand - and we would all manage our expectations properly. IDC knowing what's in the update or not, I care about what is going on behind the scenes instead of just being left in the dark.

This here was needed, thank you TDev for opening up - letting us all know what is going on. I do hope we see some sort of this in the future if an update needs more time in the oven, delays, whatever; we're all a community here and I think it's time we were considered as one instead of just a consumer.

I guess we all tend to forget this is mostly a software tech company first and a game company second. The game is almost a byproduct in a way. BeamNG is really a technological showcase first but in a almost game like package. Say like Gary's mod but with cars that can be destroyed if you look at a curb wrong.

I guess some of us tend to forget that. always wanting more eye candy like content (New Vehicles, maps etc) but really the behind the scenes stuff is really what takes the most time.

I know my name probably causes eyerolls around the office at this point, at least partially for complaining about petty stuff like my favorite presets getting cut to keep config spam down. But with this update, I really can't think of a petty complaint to waste your time with... well, actually, I sort of can: some cars don't have underglow available. I can't accurately express how happy that stuff being added to the game makes me, and I'm not even sure why. The remasters, also, continue to set standards that would have been unthinkable as recently as the Bluebuck release.

I look forward to the Bruckell Bastion with bated breath (and hope it will have underglow available), not just for what it is but for what it will reveal about the game's canon.

Lol this community has zero patience, 2 weeks in a row without a teaser is enough for half of everyone to start shitposting and insulting everyone to the point where the update speculation thread has to be locked... Bruh other games have no teasers for MONTHS and the communities somehow live with it normally, it's only a problem with this community that expects WAY too much, like when the devs said that big things are coming they probably meant the map mode, but no, everyone instantly wants career mode and paint scratches and dirt system and everything... Idk why people here have such unrealistic expectations

As frustrating it is to see users complaining and not understanding how much was in this update, not underatanding that 3am meeting already exists BEFORE they complain, i guess they own the game as much as i do and do need to vent to. I admire the patience of the devs.
Im going to admit that i was similar in my behaves until i realized that the devs usually already have thought about whatever i may have complained about, and was working out the RIGHT way to implement it or find a solution. I think BeamNG made me see how much other games cheat in places, for example, as im focused alot on gfx and environment in my small experience, i now see how other games trick the player into seeing what they think something looks like but maybe iant what it really is, just to get a wow-effect out of some trick eye-candy stuff.
Just amazed how the devs here tries to find the right way in every path. Amazing you guys. Also very good move to be this open, another one of those next level dev things :)

For what it's worth, I appreciate that you held back the release for as long as you did and am not dissatisfied to any measure with what ended up in the game. It didn't feel underwhelming at all, and I think that just because the team grew tenfold over the past eight years or so doesn't mean that the updates have to also be that much more jam-packed with stuff. I actually would have liked more to devote just a little more time toward quality assurance; update the public branch only when internal conditions best suit it, not because people just want an update already. Even if it takes an extra three weeks to get more of a result that you guys are satisfied with first. That's my two cents.

Also, if I push myself back into motivation, I want to take a look at some of the UI code myself and see how I can help out with that.

I am in all honesty a bit conficted on this update. On one hand i really like the new map textures and map viewer but on the other hand im really not to sure what to think of the new ui design. I find the layout very unintuitive, the sounds a little annoying and hard to get used to, as well as just not being completely fleshed out. I also dont quite understand why the gameplay ui has been changed instead of the parts selector, wich is objectively not the best system for tuning parts.

The H series remaster is sufficient but not that much of a game changer as the pevious d series updates were. Its good content but the bar has just been set too high

The pessima update is in all honestly a dissapointment though, no new Drivetrains and engines like the legran update, weird engine sounds and the interior materials all look like they were pulled from a 2000s opel steering wheel (Very weirdly glossy). The parts added were either very nieche or very gimmickey and dont really have broad appeal

ok this may not be directly 0.24 feedback but something that is on the minds of a lot of people as of now

    This looks bad.

Beamng designs have gone from a mix between being grounded in realism and videogame-ish to just forced futuristic and over the top designs that neither look particularly good, not do they really fit with all the previous cars established in the game. The taillights are way over the top and do not fit contemporary styling of us cars of the modern era:

I have actually shown the new beamng car to a friend who rarely plays the game and his first impression was, i quote

"This looks like a parody of a GTA car"

wich i think is a perfect summary of everything going on with the game right now, it is losing its simulator flair and attempts to be a car parody arcade racer

last part I agree with, it would look better with the rear lights changed and even better if it was European which it looks like, I don't see a inch of American in it's design

although many people have different expectations and clearly you do as well, you are right, the new pessima update wasnt great, it did just add new engines from the legran and a hint more tunability, while everything else was cosmetic. the h series was a big improvement, however, like you said, it isnt much. not to say that this update was pointless, lots of people may enjoy it and regardless if you hate it, its still better than the old verions mostly. the new ui was unnecessary but is a nice touch, and the parts selector its old yet there isnt much to improve imo at least. not to mention the other small updates that were pushed in somewhat anonymously, such as the underglow, new loads, new load support, pbr terrains, etc. to finalize, i think that this update was necessary, it was helpful although it wasnt much in some parts, but many other parts were amazing such as the new pbr added to things like terrains and interiors.
    --- Post updated ---
there are also a lot of mixed opinions about the new bastion as well, because of its weird looks. it is quite strange and somewhat ugly but this is exactly what we needed. a more modern, american sedan. we rarely have any modern cars in beamng currently. and the front view hasnt been released yet iirc too, so there is still things going on. for all we know there may be an update to the looks, just like how the sonic movie facelift for sonic happened after a huge amount of backlash.

the new pessima's interior really bugs me
    it's too plastic-y
i've owned and/or driven enough midsizes of that era to know that the dash tends to be a very flat and uniform colour
for example, my avensis had an all-black interior and the dash on it was a soft and smooth almost pleathery feeling construction, it didn't shine in sunlight (which is what you want when driving) and the steering wheel was also a black-grey that wasn't shiny or sticky from 20 years of use.

this is partially true but it's not because the pessimas interior is badly designed (i think), it's because the interior of the car uses outside reflections causing eges of interior parts to look too bright in some areas. I'm pretty sure if you imported the interior models into blender cycles fully textured they wouldn't look as shiny

the new interior is pretty good imo, it describes the feeling of a cheap and reliable sedan for its era. and regardless, its better than the old one. heres an image of the old interior i took a long while ago before the revamp and the interior currently. it isnt much but its what we needed

you two have completely missed the point alex has made here, he said it was too shiny (wich it just objectievly is) and you made it like he was making any coment on the design of it when he did not
