I had the game where I liked it, had all my controls setup and you just went and reset everything. it is so F'ed up right now I'm just considering removing it from my computer. I can't do anything, ANYTHING without something exploding or falling apart. I'm about done, Couldn't you have gave us the option to keep our current controls? Sorry for the rant, might can relearn the UI, but the old one was already perfect and had everything I wanted and needed setup. now it's just a mess

I agree with you 100%, I had BeamNG setup just perfect for me, I woke up and it was like a new game all over again, most of my work got trashed, very frustrating.

I looked at the page, Old UI was messed up? At least we could do something. I can't even change cars right now, It's possible the game outgrew my computer and I'm lacking, if so, Then we are both SOL, can't upgrade due to prices (blame Beerbug and general greed from the computer guys for that). At this point, I'm thinking to just let the game go, it's not worth it anymore. Loved it, but the last few updates have bloated everything I had issues loading because it seems EVERYTHING loads, even stuff you are not using and not shown. This update is broken, either on my end (computer not up to snuff) or yours, either way I'll give it two weeks, if it's not fixed to playable, I have no option but to toss it. I love to play this game (especially the crawlers and drag cars), but it's worthless if I can even change the vehicle, much less change settings to something I'm used to.

One more thing, this proves something I suspected for a while. Doesn't matter if it's TV movies games or anything else. The more the people in charge try to perfect it, the worse it gets

Look at my signature, i'm pretty sure my system is worse than yours. You should reinstall the game, clear cache, etc. If you can't even change cars something is seriously wrong on your end. After the first time loading a car, it all goes smoothly, it takes just as much time as before. You can also change your keybinds, and yes it's tedious, but it's better than deleting the game altogether.

Ok but did you really have to make a new thread instead of using any of the 3 other dedicated threads to report issues? You know how hard this must be to moderate?
And also why is everyone here acting like a game development expert all of a sudden? "it seems EVERYTHING loads, even stuff you are not using and not shown" this is just how loading normally works? That's exactly the purpose, to have stuff ready in advance in case you will need it. "We just needed the old one to be sped up" how exactly do you imagine speeding up a bunch of code that has been outdated FOR OVER 5 YEARS and we could CLEARLY see in the last update that it was at its very limit and we DESPERATELY needed new scratch made code for it? I'm surprised they haven't replaced it earlier, running on terribly outdated software is a big no in game development, in the previous update we could see why... Does nobody remember anymore how painfully slow it was? "Just speeding it up" is not so easy, if it was even possible at this point. WE DID NEED THE NEW UI from the internal side of things, and I'm glad we got it.

Sorry for ruining your experience. Not our intention :-/

Can you please elaborate what exactly is slow, what you had setup that is not working anymore and the other things that bother you?
The more vague your statements are the more problems we'll have to fix them. A video of the UI being slow would help a lot as well :)

Thanks! I hope we can fix it for you then :)

Above all, it is difficult to find a radial ui than before. Maybe it's just me, but even if you press esc and e, radial ui sometimes doesn't appear.

Install updates to a game in active development and not expect it to break something? That's a paddlin'
Create an entire thread expressing distaste for said update, without providing even some level of detail and replication steps so that the devs might have a chance to fix it? That's a paddlin'

I spent three hours last night figuring it out, First i got into the controls and got the game menu to work, using a controller it used to be on the main joystick (push directly on it). Once I got that I started slowly getting my settings back. The hardest part to figure out was getting my old UI things back.

To those saying I'm complaining about change, it wasn't that as much as changing the entire UI without any way to accurately navigate it. I always used a controller, rarely the keyboard, and forgot the ESC was the game menu, took me an hour to discover that. Once I could open the game menu with the controller (the push button on the left joystick), once i got that I could work it like the old UI. Does it work? Yes, it works good. Is it Intuitive? No, if you use controller almost exclusively. Not everyone knows ESC opens the game menu.

BeamNG, If you had of simply set a game menu in the same position on the controller, I would not have made this thread. That said, once i figured it out, it's pretty good, it is a definite improvement But please, please make it work for everyone, keyboard and controller alike. I wonder if PS4 and X box had a similar issue, no keyboard they'd be F'ed

For me it works propelery, (i'm on a PS4 controller using DS4Windows) Options open the menu, left stick opens the radial menu, Triangle opens the map, Circle changes the camera, Up d-pad activates slow-mo and other than that everything is the same. Glad you could figure it out :)

It is. I can't immediately think of any game that doesn't use that key binding. Pretty sure the old UI had that same binding but I can't remember, muscle memory normally takes care of that.

I usually use a keyboard and mouse for navigation and a wheel for driving, but I have both a DualShock 4 and XBox 360 controller, so I might have a play around with the new UI using them both tonight and see what all the fuss is about. From my previous experience though, the UI has always been a hard to navigate using a controller. I specifically removed the binding for the radial menu from the left joystick because I tend to accidentally push it inwards when I aggressively or suddenly flick it in one direction, such as when I want to countersteer.

You're using DS4Windows? I tried that and I found that it was duplicating upshifts among other things in BeamNG. Turned out the game has native support for the DS4, so I stopped using DS4Windows and it all worked perfectly.

I use it for the rumble and other games, there is an option in it to hide the original controller. Besides even without that option it still detected only the emulated one unless i plugged it in with usb.

Yeah I was using USB since my PC doesn't have Bluetooth, perhaps that was why then.

I understand that probably is the case, but i only play a few games and this one I play almost exclusively on controller. So i probably lacked the knowledge, of years and years of gaming. It honestly never occurred to me until I hit it and the menu popped up. Maybe i am an idiot, but oh well. Changing the basic controls for controller on PC, was still not smart. Like I said, If at least the menu was on the controller, this thread wouldn't have been made. I accept part blame for not knowing, but I won't accept all of it

Am I the only one who isn’t that bothered with the new UI? While I still don’t see the need for one, it’s not THAT bad. Sure I had to re bind most of my controls, but that took about 5 minutes. I haven’t noticed any major slowdown either apart from some freezing from time to time. And that’s coming from someone who loves to pick holes in updates.
