Hey jo, i have a very frustrating problem. My FPS drops awfully when I paint terrain. In small maps 1024x1024 it's not as hard as with a 8096x Terrain. The FPS drops visibly to 0-3 according to the display still 13. Lowest Graphic settings improves minimal. System: Ryzen 2700x@4.2 16GB 3200 RAM GTX 970 4GB Game on SSD How can I improve the performance of Terrain Painting? Wich parts do I have to upgrade to speed up the process. It is more or less an anti-aggression training. Because it takes hours to paint a road from A to B. Breathing exercises are currently the only thing I can do.
Thank you, we have created a ticket and we will investigate and take measures to optimize the performance of the heightmap update (if that is the case for this slowdown).
I find this happens when I'm using a very large brush (close to the 256 unit max). If I'm painting big areas, I max out the brush size and click individual painted circles rather than dragging the texture. It take a while with a big map, but it does the job. @Philipo98, does this happen with small brush sizes as well? I know your computer is at least as fast as mine, and I don't get lag when painting fine details.
If you have a large portion of the visible area with vegetation, i find it happens on my end more often. As it seems it has to "reorganize" the placement of said vegetation. But the "slow down" has happened more recently so what it causing it is odd and kinda doesn't make sense. I look forward to the world editor getting fixed and improved. R7 5800x 32gb ram 980Ti SSD
I made a short video to demonstrate the problem. My System has some resources left at this moment. Limited FPS to 60 to chill my graphics card. It's pain to draw this way. //Edit: It happens with brush size 1 too. But only at maps 4096x and upwards. The Pixel/Meter doesn't matter. The Heightmap Size is what matters.
