So... recently I got an idea that BeamNG team could remaster the USA maps (West Coast USA, East Coast USA, Utah USA) Basically making them 2048x4096 instead of current 2048x2048. Since the current maps feel kind of small and limited (specially West Coast). Than they could join them together and make a big USA map. I left a professionally made demonstration made in Paint : Kind of like this... Making it a island would be nice touch and also making it represent sort of GTA map. Which for those that played the game know it feels WAY larger then it actually is. There would be a little transition areas like shown on the picture. I would not mind it being spread through multiple updates. So instead of the next summer and the winter updates (basically the big boy updates) since it would be SO MUCH work and I know that. But for the price of work you get a completely different BeamNG.Drive experience. For those that agree with me, and would like this map to be in a game please upvote (or whatever it is called here) this post so that maybe the devs notice it. Note for developers: For the map selection I would name it USA. Then in it make three options West, East and Utah. PLEASE TELL ME THIS CAN HAPPEN. Just imagine crooseing along the roads that feel never-ending. Thanks!
Every person ever making this kind of thread always forgets one thing: IMAGINE HOW TERRIBLY LAGGY IT WOULD BE. West Coast alone in its current state is literally unplayable on laptops (that meet minimal requirements) on lowest settings. If you added 2 other maps to it, it would become unplayable even on normal computers...
Objection, it runs at 40 fps on my laptop wich is under the minimal requirements. But yeah you're right.
- for a game like GTA, the map is unbelievably and unnecessarily big - it would make no sense in BeamNG - all of you - every single person like you forgets one crucial thing: lag. American Road is HUGE but also very laggy on slower computers. Imagine a map of the same - or even bigger - size in PBR - HOW THE HELL do you expect someone to make a transition from a heavily populated area with lots of trees and vegetation into a DESERT??? - also, a desert turning into a sea?
The only way i can think of this looking kind of good and being kinda performance-friendly is to have each transition being basically a tunnel under some kind of terrain, then it loads the next map but instead of the loading screen it's your car driving in the tunnel. But that would require triggering a custom loading screen which i don't think is possible.
Yes I agree. I did actually forget to mention that in the post. But with the required optimization it could be playable on lower end PCs. Anyways i say that the minimum specs a WAY TO LOW. The recommended is more like minimum to me to be hones :/ --- Post updated --- For GTA the map is the right size. Its really only way you can make the game feel good and kinda so like you would actually live there. And it would make sence in beam ng considering how repetetive the maps get even after just 1 hour of gameplay. I dindnt say that the location of the Desert And such need to be on the same playce as in the picture. Its an idea afterall
most of the online missions are literally just driving from one side of the map to the other. Did someone die? Great! Have fun re-doing the gruelling and boring act 2 setup 16 Doomsday Scenario all over again!
Do you have any idea how much processing power it would take ? Take los injurus for example, it's already unrunnable on lower end pcs, then make it 4x bigger and with more trees, and you get a pc killer. Beamng render all the map all the time, and even though there are lods it's not enough to achieve the same level of optimization as gta or forza. In some cases (by that i mean going very fast very high) in forza you can see that there are chunks disappearing and appearing as you go.
Ah yes, The USA. Fantastic island with all its three beautiful states: East Coast, West Coast and Utah
honestly the fact that "The USA | Ideas and Suggestions" popped up in recent thread activity is enough to make me like this thread
Los Injurus is also a really well optimised map (except for that one ultra laggy tunnel...), with the combined ampunt of assets from 3 different maps I don't think a similar level of optimisation would be possible, so it would lag even more than that
Each map is ment to represent a diffrent part of the USA, This makes no sence to have utah, californa and mane be just one big island.
You do realize that the west coast should be on the west. I've gone into MS paint and made your map but just a little better @Agent_Y has a point though

Yeah as i said in one of the replies my Idea was based on how worm each map "feels". As far as i know Canada is the coldest while the equator is the hottest. As for the lag-zone. well in image it says its size is 4096x6144. Which is smaller then Los Injuroses 10000 by 10000 or something like that. And with optimization like Forza's it would be playable on something like my Ryzen 5 2600 and RX470 4GB paired with 16Gb ram.
