Hello all, I am starting to design off-road maps I am designing from base files. I started building maps this summer and I've gotten to the point where I can design some fun things. This map includes.. East Coast Mountain trails, climbs, and a replica of Bikini Bottoms Offroad Park. West Coast Moab style A full copy of the Ultra4 King of the Hammers qualifying loop, with back door and additional desert trails I've made. I have live streamed much of the designs that can be seen here. A follow on Twitch or subscribe on YouTube goes a long way too. Thanks! https://www.twitch.tv/racingontherocks https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_Os1qXccVNLv8DYJDU0pqw I'll post a few screenshots to start the thread!
In the process of getting it approved through QA and it'll be on the repo asap. --- Post updated --- More videos --- Post updated --- West Coast Crawlin
are there going to be rally tracks and rally cross tracks with AI path?(it doesnt need to have AI path)
I just downloaded this map and noticed that you've got a missing materials bug. Turns out it's a super-easy fix: Delete the materials.cs file in art/terrains. All of your materials are defined in main.materials.json, so the cs file is superfluous. Great map so far!
Thanks for doing the hard part for me! Leave a review, there is a few out there from some guys. This map has enough trails to take a days worth of time to find and play them all. Thanks for the feedback again!
Seems my previous review got removed so figured I would go more in depth with this one, The map has alot of issues, the textures are a big problem, the mud has really weird black spots and kind of looks like mold, the lighter colored mud is really off-putting as well, on top of that it's way too slippery. The cracked sand in the desert area is way too over saturated making it painfully bright to look at and quite distracting when you're trying to race, these can easily be fixed and just need some effort put into it. The transition between the different biome types also needs work, separate it with water or something it doesn't make sense for there to just be weird brush lines where you painted it. The maps terrain is way to jagged and rough and there's spike mountains in certain places, why not smooth these out? there's no reason for them and there's certainly no way you're going to be able to drive on them, next thing is the trails, they're very short and all over the place, it makes them very hard to follow and a lot of times I'll try following one and just get lost because it branches off so many different ways and there's no clear indicator on where to go, some of the trails seem like there was not much time put into it just a quick pass with the forest brush tool with the rocks and that's it, there was no polish put into it whatsoever, on one of the creek trails the water flickers in and out really bad and is very hard to look at, there's also weird bridges around the map that have been scaled poorly and really don't belong there, it doesn't makes sense for a concrete bridge to be stretched all weirdly and to be on a dirt road, plenty of the other maps have wooden bridges or a means to make them so why not take the time to bring them into your map? at the end of the day it's your map so do what you want, but me personally I cannot and will not recommend this map until it's been improved and brought to and actually presentable state, I also am disappointed in you as a person for the way you behave to people that try to give you constructive criticism and my respect I had for you is gone, it's also pretty obvious you're making this map for clout since every other review that had anything negative for this map are now gone as well.
Hey Chuck, Thanks for the good feedback here. I think the core issue with this is my ignorance to how the state of the mods work. This shouldn't have been marked completed from the submission, it's definitely a beta and wasn't intended to be a "Released" (I'm learning that means it's in a somewhat completed state) map upon first iteration. I will say that your comments here are definitely more constructive than the initial review and I appreciate these because they are helpful and contain good ideas. Your suggestions here are good stuff. In regards to the personal comments, that's all good with me. I understand where you're coming from. I'm not making the map for clout, I'm just having fun playing the game and learning how to do this. I started making these maps with your help initially so you have an idea of the experience I've got with beam as a whole. I'm not sure about any of the other negative reviews not being there. I'll take the info you gave and run with it. I really do appreciate it!
A few new videos showing areas of the upcoming update to the map. Most of which are updates to the east coast area of the map. Some custom textures and as always a full blend of fast courses, rock crawling, and Rock Bouncing. fun all around Thanks everyone! ** There are some resources in videos that may or may not be released depending on approval from original creator.
I have been working a quite a bit on this map, one of my beta testers mentioned that the map was getting laggy for his low-mid end PC. So I've changed the direction slightly to be more FPS friendly and reduced the overall file size to right at 1.3 gigs as compared to the 2.1 it was at. I'm looking at more ways to trim this off, but with such a massive map the trail density is easily quadrupled in the coming 2.0. I'm thinking three weeks or so for the next update. Thanks guys!
We are cleared for release by all contributing creators for the end of this month. I'm really excited to show everyone OP2.0
There is a new track section added. But it's got big whoops and big jumps. Ideal for trophy trucks --- Post updated --- Lot's of technical crawling like in WeRock competitions. --- Post updated ---
