WIP Beta released ETK800 Hybrid 8.1.0

That's pretty impressive that any part of it was able to work at all, honestly... version 1.2 is pretty ancient, lol. The game's code has changed significantly since then.

The good news, though, is that I'm almost done with the next release (which is going to be a pretty massive update) and it should make it quite a bit easier to add the hybrid system to other vehicles. The major release after this coming one should make it even easier, but it's going to take even more work. I have a lot of restructuring planned for that one.

 

Unfortunately, your current hybrid system does not fit the topology that I'm trying to replicate. The premise of the 200BX hybrid was that it was a garden-variety CVT with an electric assist motor integrated into the torque converter. The tiny 3-cylinder engine took 16 seconds to hit 60, but with the assist motor is was closer to 11 seconds. Version 1.2 was the last version of the system that could replicate this arrangement.

 

Ah, in that case, you'd need to wait until the major release after this upcoming one. I won't say much, but the general idea is that things are becoming much more modular to open the doors for extension/customization of different parts of the hybrid system without needing to rewrite huge amounts of it

 

In Europe especially, there is this concept of "P levels" in hybrid drives where "P" is for "position."

The 200BX Hybrid configuration would be considered P1 since the motor is integrated into the torque-converter. The ETK hybrid would be either P3 power-split or P3 power-split+P4 since the electric motors are integral to the transmission. I would think that if Cherrier made a Vivace hybrid it would be P0, an electric assist motor replacing the alternator, possibly with a P4 rear drive unit as well like the ETKs.

The gauges dont work anymore, and the car doesn't automatically switch between engine and EV mode anymore.

The problem with the auto start stop can be caused by cold coolant. However, the gauges are a known issue that will be fixed in the next update.

 

Good news! I've submitted version 5.0.0 of my Core mod as well as version 8.0.0 of the ETK800 Hybrid mod to the repository; the updates are currently waiting to be approved. These updates include fixes for the issues that have been around since the 0.23 game update, in addition to lots more stuff that is included in the changelog of the updates. I can't say how long it will be until they're approved, as that's up to the moderation team, but hopefully it will be soon.

 

Please correct me if I am wrong, but I'd say that the ETK hybrid is not what the document you linked describes as P3. The document is about mild hybrids and this is a full hybrid mimicking Toyota's Hybrid Synergy Drive.

 

I forgot to go and read that article until now, but I think you're right. It looks like all those "tiers" are specifically "mild hybrid". Technically, you could almost consider the ETK hybrid (as well as Toyota's real-life hybrids) as a combination of P2 and P3 (MG1 is P2, connected through a gear reduction to the engine, and for any given vehicle speed, its speed is proportional to engine speed. MG2 is P3, connected through a gear reduction to the wheels, and its speed is proportional to wheel speed), plus P4 for AWD models. It's more complicated than that, though, since the whole system has to cooperate as one integrated mechanism.

I love this update and the new start up chime feature! I added my own sound (The porsche start up) and its soooo good

 

I checked the bindings, set them correctly and the charge, EV mode and brake hold doesnt work.

(0.23 and installed manualy)

 

i didnt seem to have an issue with the key binding however after driving for a while in ev mode, the main engine dies

 

Is the "overdrive" mode that I often see in my G1 Prius (ICE -> wheels and MG2 re-gen torque -> MG1 positive torque and -> battery) correctly modelled? I often see the ETK 800 depleting its battery quite rapidly while cruising rather than charging it. The battery will deplete to ~25 SoC and then stop.
In the G1 Prius, the SoC hangs around 55-65, and MG2 will be torque NEGATIVE, MG1 will be POSITIVE (higher ground speed,, less wheel torque, lower ICE speed.)
If I accelerate, the ICE will rev-up and the HV pack will charge, whereas any sort of acceleration in the G1 Prius will rev up the ICE and either drag MG1 and send that power to MG2 to accelerate (sometimes a tiny bit of current will go into the HV pack), or pull current from the HV pack while simultaneously dragging MG1.
