Hello! I am trying to run BeamNG.Drive on my second computer. It is a 2017 model with a Seventh Gen Intel Core i7-7660U, 16GB RAM and an SSD ... until we come to the point that my laptop doesn't have a dedicated GPU, but only Intel Iris Plus Graphics 640, an integrated graphics processor. How would my game fare in medium settings? Or is playing on low the only option? Thank you very much, I appreciate any tips here!
No way you will be able to do 60 fps with medium, maybe with lowest you can but with medium expect 15-20fps .
You might get 35 fps max on very low settings. And expect a lot of instability too, near-constant crashing
Thank you for the replies. Is there anyone who can speak from experience with playing on an integrated graphics card? What settings do you usually use to get 20-30 FPS while having decent graphics? Any other tips and tricks I should be watching?
I'm on an nvidia 940m, it's very old so it might be close to an integrated graphic card. On the gridmap, at lowest settings, i get 50 fps. You will surely get 35-40 at lowest settings too. I'd say to prefer fps to graphics.
Don't bother playing beamng if you dont have a mid tier GPU The game would run shit without it and would prolly destroy your experience + The crashes can tend to put some extra heat on that gpu, slowly killing it --- Post updated --- Speaking from experience, my i7 16gb ram with integrated graphics couldn't run roblox on mid settings (would not give me a constant 60fps)
I don’t think it would run well at all based on my experience with a basic laptop couple years ago, but why don’t you just try and report back how it went? This just doesn’t seem right since there shouldn’t be much extra heat from crashes - the system would likely be pegged to the max just running the game in general. Also, CPUs and GPUs just throttle down their performance or in extreme cases just shut down when excessive temperatures are reached so it should be of no concern in short term. Running at higher temps of course is not healthy in long term but it’s a U-processor with iGPU here so I wouldn’t worry about any excessive temps unless the cooling system is compromised.
I tried it, compared to my other BeamNG experience when playing on my gaming laptop, it sure is a downgrade. The game itself does not lag, but it does not look too pretty. But it is playable at 30 FPS with low-normal graphics. One tip I would have for others who are trying this is: the game-changer is the resolution. I can have graphics on the normal preset and get 7 FPS with standard 2736 x 1824 resolution, or I can get around 30 FPS which is totally playable on almost any map if turn the resolution down to 1280x720. I would also recommend using a controller especially when playing on low-end systems where it can get somewhat stuttery, as I find it much more difficult to play with a keyboard on a stuttery game than on a smooth running game.
