I have a 1060 6GB & noticed that, depending on the map, the total GPU usage is at 40-80%.

So BeamNG does definitely use the GPU but not as much as the CPU which it needs for all the physics calculations

My GPU is trash and the game runs no problem on highest settings so it can't use too much of it lol
With the introduction of PBR I wonder if CPU will take some of the rendering calculations or it will still depend on the GPU (which I think the second option makes more sense because there is no point making the game even more CPU intensive than it is if there is another alternative), but idk how it works so I can't tell

P_enta, this is not true. I know because I have one of the highest graphics specs Intel shipped (UHD 630) and it's worse than the GT-710.

Man, how is your GPU trash?? I have to run the game with medium to low settings with my RX570 4GB, and can barely squeeze more than 60FPS on bigger maps, on smaller ones I get 90 or so, my GPU usage gets to 100% every time, but it usees less than half of my CPU (a Ryzen 3 3200G)

Ok it's not trash but compared to my CPU it's seriously lacking. It can't render in Blender, that shows something.

It really can't ? I got a 940m and even though i need to run beamng at lowest, it can render a somewhat simple scene in Cycles not too slow.

Then maybe it's not a GPU problem on my end, idk, could also be RAM

What have you tried to render ? I tend to make low-poly things

Take a look at the render devices in the "System" section of preferences, try different devices ?

Tried that and many other things, nothing works, sometimes it renders half of the scene and then crashes Blender

I've got 4 gigs of ram. 20fps is my friend. Lol
THe laptop I also run beam on has a dual core i3 3110m, and an hd 7610m mobile GPU.. 1gig of it. DDR3 vram but slightly boosted a bit using msi afterburner..

Really wish I could EGPU the thing to have my gt710 run with it.... But... The laptop isnt technically mine..

Sorry for bumping an old thread, but I wanted to post a suggestion for adding FSR, and since this thread already exists, I thought it would be better to keep the conversation in just one thread

So, recently FSR was added to Assetto Corsa in the mod "Custom Shaders Patch" (keep in mind that AC is a game from 2014 that has been abandoned by the devs since around 2017)

I tested it on my end and got extremely surprised with the performance increase, in the "Performance" mode at 4k the FPS got an increase of around 50% the "Balanced" one increased around 30%

It made me think, if FSR is that easy to implement that a guy without the access to the source code can still add it to a game through a mod, it shouldn't need many work hours for it to be added to BeamNG

I know BeamNG used to be pretty heavy on CPU, but in the last 3 years the CPUs available got a massive increase in performance

I for example have a 5800H, which is more than capable of giving 200+ fps @ 1080p

But still I don't play at 1080p, I play at 4k, and I have a 3060 mobile, in 4k it's not uncommon to dip below 60fps with medium/high graphics, FSR could probably allow me to play at high graphics keeping above 60fps at all times

That's true, but Ilja (that's the one who made CSP) almost changed every aspect of the game, physics included. He's not just "a guy". He's probably good enough to make his own game at this point.

Shushhhh! BeamNG devs don't need to know that, don't scare them before they at least try adding it ;)

Yeah, but the beamng devs are surely good enough to add it easily. I think it's more a matter of time than anyting else.

Id disagree, my bottleneck is GPU.
My CPU chills at 40% while my GPU is struggeling to hit 60FPS.

Id love this software on beam cuz my 1080 really needs some help with 4K gaming.
And if not that then just regular scaling.
