0.23 Update killed my fps

That has to be thermal throttling.

 

I agree, I don't get how the fps can be at 100FPS for a couple of seconds then go down to 14 and stuff.

 

It's strange that FPS are falling so much. I have to install a newer version and see if it is similar for me, but it seems to me that it is only you. I suspect it may be due to thermal throttling.

 

8th and 9th gen i7-h processors run very very hot, so you're just thermal throttling. this is also why you don't use laptops to play video games. either crank your fans up or buy a cooling pad.

Also for me, you can see my specs below, I actually gained a couple of fps by switching to ultra. I don't use Vulkan though, as it artifacts weird.

 

bruh this has happened to me too, i have a lenovo IdeaPad S540 15IWL 8GB GTX (8gb ram, 1650) and i cant spawn into a map with 2 cars without getting FPS drops every few seconds. i have the same problem on other games but beamng is the worst of em. also btw theese drops started happening to me a few months ago without me doing anything and idk what to do

 

i have the exact same problem my specs are:
gtx 1070
i7 6700k
16gb ram

 

With new update I lost cca. 30 fps... doesn't matter which map, it is very noticable...

 

Have you tried starting the game in the game’s Safe Mode feature?

 

wow 30 fps on ultra, am have 100 fps on most weird graphics.

 

Woah, wait if I may ask do you have a lenovo legion Y540? Since my laptop has the exact same specs.

 

It seems like everyone is talking about performance without providing any specifics. Sure, you get 100FPS at ultra but is that 1080p, 1440p, 1440p ultrawide or 4K? Are you turning on dynamic reflection or no? I personally like to think that my system is pretty beefy yet in some maps it drops down to 60-70 FPS at ultra even with dynamic reflections turned off. The game is extremely poorly optimized and it would be nice to see if the developers did something about that and maybe optimize the game in a similar way that Asobo optimized FS2020 to extract more FPS out of computer components.

I'd also like to say that no matter the resolution, a CPU with great single core performance will help out a lot with regards to general game performance.

 

Nobody's also mentioned whether or not they're running the game in Safe Mode, as that can help with troubleshooting.

In terms of optimization, it's actually gotten more optimized over the years. For me, at least. I got the game in 2015 with a AMD Phenom II TX CPU and a AMD Radeon HD 5850. I could play the game decently on medium settings, and before I upgraded to an RX 560 a few years later (with the same CPU), I was able to max it and even turn on dynamic reflections with all the sliders on the minimum setting before the RX 560.

Sometimes it also helps to just not have so many processes running in the background, like Chrome or other services, for example. That stuff can eat away at your CPU and memory usage.

 

I'm sure the game has gotten more optimized over the years, but there's still lots of work left to do (in my opinion). Also yes, I should probably close my 20 something chrome before starting the game lol.

 

god I used to have one of those, they suck so much. Literal constant problems and breaking

 

Sad to see you had a horrible experience with it, I´ve owned my model for about a year now and I didn´t get problems yet. Only thing that happened for me is that something fell on the screen and it broke the hole screen, I got that repaired though. One thing I do hate about this laptop is that it runs so hot while doing intensive tasks, I know laptops are always more hot then desktops. But I think the heat coming from this laptop is a bit too much.

 

turn down the settings on my laptop with worse specs it was at 8 fps before i turned it down to low know i am getting 80 fps on Utah with 4 cars my specs are amd Ryzen 5 2500u Vega 8 16gb of ram
