I use mostly use a gamepad and play with clutch and throttle assistant on. This is fine for normal driving and racing but I often disable the clutch assist when I drive offroad to engine brake down steep hills since the clutch disengages at low speed. I'd really like bind it to a hotkey to able to toggle it on/off more seamlessly like 4wd and hi/lo range. Is this possible to mod into the game? Sort of like the torque converter lockup switch mod here.
Another thought; the clutch is operated automatically to prevent a stall when you slow or stop but otherwise remains at least partially engaged allowing you to creep forward like an automatic. That would help a lot with crawling, provided it doesn't overheat, but I haven't the slightest idea of how to implement either one.

I agree with you that the clutch assistant could have a few improvements. For example the assistant should always clutch in when the car is going above the minimal speed required for the gear that's engaged, because right now when going down a small hill, if the car manage to get reach the engine's idle speed because of engine braking, the assistant will disengage the clutch (that's rather normal here) but the problem is that the speed will never get reengaged unless you put a little bit of throttle, which makes the car to speed up or go reverse (depends on the hill inclination). The solution to resolve this problem is to tell the clutch assistant what's the speed of the car in every gear at idle speed (for example the first gear idle speed is 7km/h) and when the car goes faster than this idle speed, the assistant clutch in to avoid the car to accelerate with the clutch disengaged.
Another functionality that would be nice to have is to tell the clutch assistant to not disengage the clutch when slowing down even if it reach the engine idle speed, and to only disengage if the engine is about to stall. That would resolve the problem I listed above and make the manual gearboxes feel a bit more "real".

I suppose that first part could work but it would probably be better to make it torque based like an actual torque converter rather than engine speed. It could probably be done but the device exists already. I like the second idea and it makes me wonder why bad shifts and gear damage need to be simulated at all. I practiced floating gears in my 6 speed Hyundai (I was bored and about to buy a new car anyway lol) so I know that even without the clutch, you're not really causing any damage unless you try to force the shifter into gear without matching speeds and that's just what the game does without the assistant. A real driver just wouldn't do that. I'm thinking let the clutch assist handle the actual gear changes and the clutch button could be a sort of modifier, maybe for launching or for toggling between logic presets - city, offroad, etc.
