Most parts wouldn't fit on any other car than the original, unless it was done in Automation-like way, but then they wouldn't be able to fall off or deform on their own, which defeats the purpose of the game.

To be able to put any body of cars like covet or bolide on the frame of D series would be fun, or you could swap the engine from like etk k to vivace and then then engine would be placed in the engine bay longitudinally like it is in the etk. these would be great things to have, currently you can do them if you know how to mod, but not everyone knows how to.

I think a "chassis" builder would actually be pretty darn useful for mod makers just looking to make a slightly different car, or a car biased off a similar drivetrain. Naturally being able to swap body parts between cars really wouldn't be very useful as can you imagine going out and slapping the front fenders of an F150 on a Civic? Not super useful.

But being able to just drag and drop JBeams into your creation and having it auto set up a slot offset to make things work properly would honestly be pretty neat. Naturally you would still have to build the frame, but it would be a pretty cool feature to have in that really cool Vehicle Editor that doesn't really exist yet either...

That would work only in cases of average/generic cars, but anything other than that such as the Wigeon or the T-Series would break the whole system. And some parts that are specific to certain cars (like Vivace parcel shelf or something) wouldn't work there either.

Well yes... it would basically be limited to anything in the commons folder. The after the fact would basically be up to you as to how to make everything fit together properly thus why I stated that it would basically be limited to suspension and driveline components. Its basically the same thing that many modders already do... but it would be point and click rather than just change a number, reload, change a number, reload, change a number, reload... like we do now.

I suggest something similar. Spaceframe chassis single seater car. You can use multiple suspension, tires, body, and engine parts to have it become a buggy or a cheap formula racecar.
