Nothing to see here Just started last night. I deleted the Space Track, that was project1. It had too many bugs and it will be project4 or 5. Going to start over with doing things the right way. With dds files, and lod management.
Did a little more today, kinda see what I am thinking, a rock quarry kind of track. Made some custom mud that's deeper than the game mud for this one. Be even cooler if they add displacement to the game like in Spintires. This is that good old think red clay stuff your mom would be furious if you tracked it on the carpet from outside. --- Post updated --- Without the water and terrain, you can see the two models made with meshroom. Of course the model fringes will be covered with terrain and painted to blend. --- Post updated --- 4th of July gift, for anyone wants to fart around with that model, I am not going to use it. Texture resolution looks fine far away for background, but not as good as I want it for close up. Going to paint rocks instead. This pics included with file, see how to name the texture for it. Also here is the Red Clay I made if anyone wants it. Included us all the values set in a jpg and where to plug each image in the new terrain material slots in the text
Anyone wanting to make their own ground textures, shoot over to textures dot com and make an account. You get 15 free downloads per day. I just got this one, and made this texture for the level. I likely am late to the ballgame and everyone already uses that site But incase... I love the latest update, the terrain material editor works so much better now. Its properly links new created textures to the ground models where before it would not. Really happy they put the effort in the latest build. I use Gimp(free graphic program) to convert the downloaded textures from the tiff format to DDS format. Just remember to export as dds and select BC1 compression for images without transparencies, BC3 for images with alpha/transparencies, and BC5 for normal maps, images with only green and red channels. The game creates the blue channel. And always select mip mapping. Or you textures will sparkle/twinkle with noise. Also textures must be by the power of 2, you know where the resolution is 2,4,8,16,32,64,128,256,512,1024,2048,4096,8192 x something to the left of the x. Coming from photoshop for many years I hated Gimp, but used to it now and use it more than photoshop. Getting to work now, will update later today with progress. I am open to an ideas, or dislikes to where its going. Rather make something great than something good.
7-5-21 I like the sand piles, not crazy about the 1024x1024 rock texture, thats too small for a large object. It was free from Textures.com, a good 4k would be a lot better. 4k should be done processing or close to it...Rock Quarry Track - BeamNG -7/5/21 - YouTube
7-8-21 - Sorry, I got nothing done today. I swapped out my old MB, CPU, Memory, and Watercooler for newer ones. Last PC I built was a Pentium 4 2ghz. This particular computer is a pre-built from Best Buy. Had to watch several videos to get up to date on stuff. Still took me 4-6 hours. Lost count really. Had issues getting windows to boot. Found out old MB was booting SSD in legacy mode or whatever the ones called that was not what the new MB was set at. Got everything running great and you know I had to test a bunch of stuff. Not that CPU makes much difference, it actually did in some things. First thing I did was spawn 20 cars in BeamNG. LoL. It ran like crap . 10 cars ran great. Only tested my Ukraine track. I get a lot less hitching in other games. Even when my GPU is taxed a lot, before it would hitch a lot more. Maybe the memory mattered too. Got 3600mhz ram in place of the old 2100 or 1900 forget the mhz. It was 4-5 years old memory.
Thanks, hopefully get a good bit done tomorrow. --- Post updated --- 7-8-21 - started to add some muddy run off water.
Here is the T-Rex.DAE with the textures already prepped for the Texture Cooker to do its thing. It is partial animated, surely someone can do a lot better job than I did. I could not figure out how to attach the eyes, claws, teeth to the body in Blender. Not where they move with the T-Rex. Probably a very easy thing to do, just gave up trying to figure it out. Just extract this zip in the level's art folder, load asset browser in the level, drag and drop in the scene. Give it a few moments and it will convert the textures for you. This is the same thing posted in the Thread Crazy Lizard. I modified a horse Armature to work with the Dino. Its not perfect, but it works This is not staying in the level, just farting around last night. trying a few new things. Do what ever you want with it, if anyone even wants it. The FXB model came from Turbo Squid. I can't model that good, thats for sure.
Had to repaint entire map, needles to say, I did not do much. But did try something off to the side I been meaning to try, not that its staying, but maybe. Just changed the water blocks viscosity and other setting above it, forget names slipping mind. It will allow for no reaction to the water. Oh, and Boolean a smaller tube in a bigger tube in Blender to have normals inside to drive on. Underwater Glass Tube -BeamNG- - YouTube
