    Simply Blender.
Having made the roads using Hutch's guide to make them in Blender made it much easier, although still requires a bit of time.

i have one question, I'm trying to start a beam.ng drive yt channel and I'm certanly gonna use this map, I just wanted to ask how you make those awesome cinematic camera shots cause it doesn't look like the in-game "external" camera view.

Can I have your permission to mod Sandy Mountain by making it a flooded Sandy Mountain?

For your own personal use only, not for releasing it.

This is really well done. Thanks for creating maps like that!

One thing: Can you (or someone else) do a massive map like this but without any actual roads (or only dirt paths)? Something to do some decent offroad exploration without crossing paved roads all the time would be aweseome.

    Keep up the good work!

Looks amazing, but sadly it's extremely laggy on my pc despite being the same size as in-game maps like Utah.
    Is this a common thing?

    What's your specs?
The map itself is slightly bigger than Utah and uses much higher resolution textures.

    I use an i7 4790, gtx-750 (1gb), 8gb Ram and a mechanical hard drive.
I can play on the Utah map with decent settings, 1080p at about 40 fps.
I just tried reloading the Sandy Mountains map and then I realized that when I go to the default spawn position and I look straight ahead or I get bad frame drops, but when I look behind me it's fine. I went to free cam, moved up and I noticed there's just a lot more map in the direction I'm getting framedrops. So yeah I guess it's size related. Maybe if I could turn down draw distance it would help, but there doesn't seem to be a setting (at least in the settings UI)

What you can try is turning down the terrain LOD.
Open the editor, select the 'Terrain' entity, and then increase the 'ScreenError' value:

It will make the terrain less details at distance, so it should help.
You can then save the map, so that your change stay (although note that if for some reason I update the map, your game will load that old save if it's there)

Nice, thanks for the tip! That might come in handy for WCUSA as well :)

I just tried it and my FPS went up from 16 to 17 when I changed ScreenError from 12 to 40, it went up to about 22 FPS when I set it to somewhere in the 2500 - 15000 range, but beyond that it went down again. And when I change my car from the stock pickup to a racy etki it went down by a few again.

I don't know much about your GPU, but it may be normal for it (had a GTX660 that was utterly terrible with anything DX11 related)
Or something on your side is acting up.

Other games perform exactly as I'd expect from these specs, I don't know from the top of my head if they all use DX11, but old and new games run fine.
It's just slightly bigger maps in BeamNG that tank my FPS quite badly.

Utah and JRI on Medium settings give me 40-50 FPS, 60-ish when I reach the edge of the map. On Low it goes towards 90.
Sandy Mountain on Medium gives me 55-60 FPS when I look in one direction, 16 when I look in the other.
WCUSA gives me 8 FPS on Medium, 27-33 FPS on Low settings, certain intersections, dirt trails, drag strip, some other locations give me 8 FPS on Low settings.

Would you say GTX cards in general might not be optimal for BeamNG? Because that would be good to know for future upgrades. This is by far my most played game at the moment.

I use a GTX card myself (970) and it works fine.
The older ones (I can speak for the 600 only) had pretty odd stuff going on.

I don't know why you get that low frame-rate on my map, since it's basically just terrain (yet pretty big)
