In-game plate text generator broken?

I've tried to quickly look if this was an already known issue but found nothing. Sorry if there is actually another thread on this hiding somewhere.
So I was back to the game after a while, and found out that with the last update the mod folder was moved to a slightly different path, but there need to have been some more changes that I can't really point out that have apparently broken the ingame license plate text generator. I have realised this after trying to create a custom license plate, and the text pattern had nothing to do with what I specified in the json file. So I tried with a plates mod I had published last year, same result. I thought the file was now structured in a different way, so I checked the plate files in the vanilla game and there was nothing new, and in fact even vanilla plates now do not generate the text they are supposed to. ALL the plates now generate text in this pattern: ABC-1234 and nothing else. If I want realistic patterns I have to type manually what I want now. Does somebody else know what happened? Did the devs accidentally broke the feature, or is this supposed to work in another way now?

 

Did you try in safe mode?

 

It is a common issue that has been since 0.22. There is no fix yet I think. Maybe it will get fixed one time, but when? Who knows...
