This is just for insight. Please do not feel that I'm attacking anyone, but I'm genuinely curious and don't want to be torn to shreds just for asking. Now that I've got that out of the way; What's the point? On community screenshots you will see an absolute truckload of private mods every now and then, where people get pissed if you ask for a download, and asking for a private mod has become a stigma in general nowadays. Is it just to flex on people who aren't friends with developers, and to piss people off by saying no when they ask for a download, or is it just to show that you can make mods and others can't? Again, this isn't an attack, these are my assumptions on the thought process and could be completely wrong. Please correct me if I am wrong about this. In short, why do people keep mods private even when they're really good, and some people want them? Anyways that's all. Looking forward to your answers
I am asking the same question myself a few months. The only reason possible for me they don't want to give it to people who beg.
Well hopefully the thread can provide answers for the two of us then. I think it's important that this question is asked and answered
the only other reasonable justification I know of is when the mods aren't up to the creator's quality standards, so they release it to a few people in a sort of "permanent WIP" state.
lol i do make mods and cars for myself(idk if that counts as a private mod) but i literally dont give them to anyone because ihave no friends that have beam(i wouldnt trust em anyways). i also dont make them public because simply i dont like this community. their purely for my own enjoyment and will stay only on my computer till the end of time. i also dont post pictures cause i have no desire to flex my mods and so that i dont get people messaging release mod pls a million times. i dont get why people make a mod though then show it off everywhere, give it to a bunch of people and not release it publicly though.
When you make something and release it to the public, even for free, you take on the burden of supporting it and keeping it updated. If someone begs for a private mod and you give it to them, do you think they're not going to bitch and moan constantly when something doesn't work, or the game updates and breaks the mod? Some people just don't want to take on that responsibility, which is totally understandable. They don't owe anyone a thing.
