I have what I think is a neat idea for a new game mode for Beamng that would A; bring even more interest to the game then there already is, and B; showcase the damage model in a new and different way. My idea is based off of the Road Rage mode from the Burnout series, which for those who didn't have a awesome childhood, is a game series focused on two things; racing and crashing. Now of course, a game mode from a arcade racing game would seem a bit odd, but I think would be a lot of fun. Let's be honest, with a game focused around the most impressive soft-body physics ever made, would you rather drive a copyright free '98 Mazda 626 around a small town making food deliveries, or get behind the wheel of a reinforced muscle car/compact/sports car/etc, and slam other drivers into telephone poles, concrete dividers, oncoming buses, etc? Now, in order to make this event work, at least in my head, they're going to need to be a few unique variants of existing cars that have stronger parts then standard versions, because slamming into the side of a rival car and having a control arm shatter or a wheel get ripped off of the car doesn't sound like much fun. Think of something along the lines of the Powerglow cars, just focused on strength and destruction rather then racing around a neon track at over 150mph. I'm sure some people aren't going to like my idea because it's too unrealistic and they would much rather drive a clapped out '80s Civic around Suburbia, obeying all traffic laws and such, and that's perfectly ok. All I'm saying is that if you have the most realistic damage model ever designed, why would you not want to show it off in a way that is incredibly fun and has a lot of replay value? If you have any further ideas to add onto this one, or if you want to tell me how my idea will never happen or that I should should learn how to make it myself instead of posting ideas and suggestions in a idea and suggestions forum, feel free to! TL;DR: Burnout's Road Rage mode + Beamng Drive = Fun
This is not the focus of this game at all, and I think you don't get what "realism" means in this context. Yeah we do have the most realistic damage model ever, and let's not ruin it by making the player's car unrealistically strong. Unless it was reinforced realistically, so with added like derby armor or something. Simply making it stronger for the sake of being stronger than other cars would ruin the feel of realism. Of course it would be perfectly fine if it was a mod, but the official content should be mostly focused on a truly realistic damage model instead imo. Not a bad idea but I just don't see it fitting the rest of the game content.
Well that's what I was trying to say, and also having heavy duty versions of existing parts, such as heavy duty/reinforced frames, parts made from stronger materials, etc. A bit more of a grounded take on Burnout's Road Rage mode and custom cars, if that makes sense.
That would make some sense but the problem is that these parts would be useless for anything else than that gamemode and they don't exist in real life. Same problem as with powerglow skins.
I think it could work as a campaign pack. The game already features a couple of takedown-style scenarios out of the box, albeit a basic 'chase the car and stop it' type deal. There are already vehicle strengthening parts for many vehicles, particularly for the derby vehicles, so the concept isn't totally unrealistic. Sounds to me like a simple mod that packages a few takedown scenarios, maybe a custom track and some additional strengthening parts to more cars, along with a scoring system could do the trick here.
I'm actually rather keen on driving my copyright free '98 Mazda 626 around a small town making food deliveries. You should check out the multiplayer mods if you haven't yet, you could probably make something like Burnout's Takedown mode using some mods, friends and a bit of imagination From working the steps out in my head, you would: -Make a couple of "Strong Car" configs with: https://www.beamng.com/resources/ve...e-and-other-values-edit-works-for-mods.14868/. -Make a smaller sized circuit out of one of the official maps/mod maps, the size should be based on how many friends you have. If you make a really big circuit and have like 2 friends you are going to be spread out too thin. -Spread yourselves out across the circuit and give each player their own spawn point. When a player is taken down, they will respawn from this point and drive off. -Set a time limit, and keep tally of how many times you took somebody out. Whoever has the most takedowns by the end wins. Might expand this if it's not clear, and it's definitely not a 1:1 to the OG Takedown mode in Burnout.
